What are you interested in? Bars, restaurants (american food and Greek/Italian food is my favourite), wouldn't mind hitting the goldfields, music, sport, wildlife parks. Last time I had cold smoked kangaroo with slaw and chips. Doesn't seem to be on the menu, but was Koala Tee.

Sweetwater do all their own hickory smoking and BBQ on their front deck with a custom smoker unit made out of old beer kegs. Shit is fucking tight shorty. -PB

BRFC_92 wrote:They look mint. Thanks mate. I'll vouch for Sweetwater too, good place. You might also like The Beaufort, it's a cool place and similar to Sweetwater, the ribs they do there are the best I've had in Melbs: http://www.thebeaufort.com.au/Other American food places I'd recommend would be Bluebonnet BBQ ( http://www.bluebonnetbbq.com.au ) and Bowery to Williamsburg, they do an awesome Reuben sandwich there. I'd also recommend hitting up Jimmy Grants for a souv: http://jimmygrants.com.au/Edited by Cromulent: 7/11/2014 09:17:10 AM

Kalimera Souvlaki Art in Oakleigh is pretty great, but Oakleigh is probably a bit out of the way & I personally wouldn't bother heading out there unless you'd planned on going to Chadstone or something http://www.kalimerasouvlakiart.com.au/menu/There's probably some good places in the city but I really wouldn't know which to recommend. Another Greek place i'd recommend is Demitri's Feast in Richmond, it's a cafe & most of it's options have a Greek influence: http://www.demitrisfeast.com.au/p/menu.html

Nice beaches, nice food. French people, especially waiters not so helpful. Would recommend going to Cote d'Azur even if you visit Marseille its very beautiful.

Been in Germany 5 years now. Unfortunately, I've started taking the proximity to other places for granted. While I've seen quite a lot of Germany, I've still never been to Spain, Switzerland or Ireland. Three places I'd like to say I've visited. Numerous London, Berlin and New York visits have never disappointed and Edinburgh exceeded my expectations the most though I had quite low ones before visiting. Which places have exceeded your expectations or disappointed you?

Dusseldorf was below my expectations, crap and Copenhagen wasn't as good as I remembered. My brother lives in Edinburgh so I've been there a bit and it is quite beautiful. Everyone goes on about Barcelona. I haven't been there, but I have been to Porto. It's very very beautiful. Hilly. The river and bridges and all the port distillieries on the other side of the river bank. They also have strict laws about food.... So expect to wait longer but you get hand cut chips and a few times we had to wait for the butcher to come on his moped but its really worth it. And stay away from Riga. Waking up in Latvia is not really a nice way to start the morning.

I went to Tallinn but stayed inboard. Been to Helsinki a couple of times. Not so much to see. I would recommend Stockholm in the summer.

SlyGoat36 wrote:Has anyone been to Japan? Is it expensive to buy shit there like food and train tickets? A bit similar in prices to here really, depends where you are. If you're going for an extended time have a look at getting a JR ticket which will let you on unlimited JR trains - but be aware, there are competing train companies so one unlimited ticket will only apply to that company. But the train system is as good as it gets - no need to travel by any other means for a lot of the country.
