Did you know before 1953 it was technically illegal for a civilian to fly the blue flag and you were supposed to fly the red one?

Australia fought in both World Wars under the Union Jack. Have a look at any photos of VJ celebrations in Australia and all you will see are Union Jack flags in the Streets of Melbourne and Sydney.
