Extremely interesting case study for State Football infrastructure and something I think the FFA need to start paying attention too. The Moreland City Council in Melbourne recently opened a new 6.3 million dollar football facility and have now granted its use to a number of local NPL clubs. Brunswick City (word of mouth) Moreland Zebras and most notably Pascoe Vale were offered use of the facility for home games with the later two taking up the opportunity and moving from their traditional home grounds to the 500 seat crown jewel of the local council's soccer community. Pascoe Vale, who usually play in front of crowds between 200-400 smashed club attendance records when they played their first home game this season to the tune of (reportedly) over 1,000 fans! Should the FFA do more to assist the development of top class community football infrastructure? In my eyes it gives clubs the capacity to grow and professionalises the game at state level. On top of that it literally builds a great foundation for clubs to prepare for a potential second division in the long run and will provide improved telecasts of FFA Cup matches in the short run.
