I think this would be an interesting end of year fixture, make it an annual thing. The MLS is very similar to the A league in both culture and format. They have playoffs we have finals. Neither league has promotion nor relegation. Both are up and coming leagues and shared the same suffering and fight to become respected and compete with other codes. Most of the clubs are franchise clubs. An American MLS team with perhaps one or two former Euro stars would be a much more interesting proposition than a shitty plastic All Stars game, anything we play America in is generally going to whip up a bit of media interest. League has been doing it for years with challenge cup.
It surprises me that with our similar football heritage and struggles FFA hasnt already thought of this idea to build links between the two leagues, or perhaps they tried and the MLS rebuffed?

because san jose earthquakes vs perth glory in front of 15,000 or central coast mariners vs columbus crew in front of 7,000 wont pay the costs.
I'd love to see it happen though. Melbourne Victory vs Portland Timbers at AAMI Park now that would be special.

But that doesnt mean that other MLS palyers dont have pull factor just because their last name isnt Beckham. Kaka, Gerrard, for example.

World Series Football.
4 quarters with unlimited substitution and everybody mic'ed up. At each break there will be different crowd pleasing spectacles.
Every attendee to get large (recyclable) McDonald's GOAL sign. Flypasts by Marine F-18s followed by the Coca Cola choppers with giant national flags. Aus v Us Cheerleading contest with the vote being tallied on their twitter scores. Teams to be eliminated personally by guest presenter Simon Cowell. (He lives in the US, has an accent that sounds a bit like a football commentator and would do anything for money). A dance off featuring famous TV chefs from each country and/or a bake off with judging at half time (live cuts to the kitchen during play on the giant screens). Each side to be led out by that country's most famous sport's personality each holding the hand of a disadvantaged kid. Opening speech a live telecast from President Trump in the Whitehouse.
Can't wait.

2006: Sydney FC V Houston Dynamo 2007: Melbourne Victory V Houston Dynamo 2008: Newcastle Jets V Columbus Crew 2009: Melbourne Victory V Real Salt Lake 2010: Sydney FC V Colorado Rapids 2011: Brisbane Roar V Los Angeles Galaxy 2012: Brisbane Roar V Los Angeles Galaxy 2013: Central Coast Mariners V Sporting Kansas City 2014: Brisbane Roar V Los Angeles Galaxy 2015: Melbourne Victory V Portland Timbers
Just the list of fixtures that could have occurred if we had this model going. Would be amazing if we did something with Japan, Korea, China and maybe another country like the Pan-Pac Championship or just invited the winner of the Premier League down

I see no reason at all why anyone would even want this to be a annual event. Who gives a fuck about playing a MLS club.
