A League player status by club, march 28th:

Players marked with * are on loan

ADELAIDE UNITED

Players off-contract (16): Marcelo Carrusca, Jordan Elsey, Eugene Galekovic, John Hall, Ryan Kitto, Iacopo La Rocca, Jesse Makarounas, Marc Marino, Dylan McGowan, George Mells, Nikola Mileusnic, Mark Ochieng, Benjamin Warland, Kim Jae-sung, Eli Babalj, Baba Diawara

Marquees: Eugene Galekovic, Marcelo Carrusca (both off-contract)

PODCAST: Daniel Garb joins Simon Hill and Adam Peacock to dissect the Socceroos and world football’s big talking points.

Moves your club must make: Adelaide are going to be set for one hell of a rebuild in the off-season, with their two marquees and most experienced players (Carrusca and Galekovic) looking likely to leave. Defender Dylan McGowan is also said to have signed a pre-contract with a European club while mid-season signing Baba Diawara has been coy on his future beyond the current season despite impressing up front. Striker Roy O’Donovan has been linked while Paul Izzo is an option to come in between the sticks

BRISBANE ROAR

Players off-contract (10): Manuel Arana, Thomas Broich, Joe Caletti, Joseph Katebian, Nathan Konstandopoulos, Jamie Maclaren, Jacob Pepper, Michael Theo, Avraam Papadopoulos

Marquees: Tommy Oar, Brett Holman (both starting next season)

Moves your club must make: It’s almost inevitable that Jamie Maclaren will leave, with Brisbane having no marquee spots available. Youngster Joe Caletti looks likely to resign before the end of the season. The majority of Roar’s core have been resigned, but Michael Theo and Thomas Broich have been made to wait. Losing Broich will be a big loss for the club and the competition.

CENTRAL COAST MARINERS

Players off-contract (14): Jake Adelson, Kwabena Appiah, Josh Bingham, Jacques Faty, Fabio Ferreira, Scott Galloway, Paul Izzo, Nick Montgomery, Ivan Necevski, Michael Neill, Roy O’Donovan, Jacob Poscoliero, Storm Roux, Mickael Tavares

Marquees: none

Moves your club must make: Roy O’Donovan has been the only shining light in two difficult seasons at the Central Coast. That’s why he’s so in demand — reportedly set to sign for Newcastle Jets despite interest from Adelaide, Brisbane and Western Sydney. The Mariners are still hoping they can hold onto him, while Storm Roux is set to put pen to paper on a new contract soon. Paul Okon has a big off-season ahead to re-build the squad.

MELBOURNE CITY

Players off-contract (10): Christian Cavallo, Braedyn Crowley, Corey Gameiro, Denis Genreau, Steve Kuzmanovski, Josh Rose, Thomas Sorensen, Luke Brattan*, Anthony Caceres*, Nicolas Colazo*

City's Luke Brattan is on loan from Manchester until the end of the season.
City's Luke Brattan is on loan from Manchester until the end of the season.Source: AAP
Marquees: Tim Cahill, Bruno Fornaroli, Nicolas Colazo (off-contract)

Moves your club must make: City look set to lose Colazo, which would open up a marquee spot and also room for another foreign player. But a big worry for them is also what will happen with Luke Brattan and Anthony Caceres, both of whom are on loan from sister club Manchester City.

MELBOURNE VICTORY

Players off-contract (10): Matt Acton, Nicholas Ansell, Alan Baro, Fahid Ben Khalfallah, Alastair Bray, George Howard, Rashid Mahazi, Lucas Spinella, James Troisi

Marquees: Besart Berisha

Moves your club must make: With the departure of Oliver Bozanic, there is now room for James Troisi to sign a marquee deal. Troisi has made it clear that it’s a marquee spot or nothing and is in demand, but Victory also have the potential to bring back Mark Milligan to the club. Daniel Georgievski looks likely to leave while Fahid Ben Khalfallah’s clause situation makes matters unclear. Defender Alan Baro has also spoken out saying he will only think about his future once the season is over but links to Rhys Williams have emerged which would fill the gap left by the Spaniard.

NEWCASTLE JETS

Players off-contract (13): Kristian Brymora, Labinot Haliti, Andrew Hoole, Ben Kantarovski, Ben Kennedy, Lei Lei Ma, Daniel Mullen, Morten Nordstrand, Prio Nielsen, Mateo Poljak, Iain Fyfe, Tomislav Arcaba, Joel Allwright

Marquees: none

Moves your club must make: It would be a move to ignite the F3 Derby, should Newcastle nab Roy O’Donovan off the Mariners. Having confirmed Dimi Petratos, only for Petratos to then move to South Korea, Newcastle have much work to do. They will also have to go without Andrew Hoole next season, with the winger wanting to pursue overseas options.

PERTH GLORY

Players off-contract (15): Diego Castro, Joel Chianese, Dino Djulbic, Nicholas Feely, Richard Garcia, Nebojsa Marinkovic, Mitchell Oxborrow, Liam Reddy, Jamal Reiners, Josh Risdon, Jordan Thurtell, Marc Warren, Aryn Williams, Rhys Williams, Lucian Goian

Marquees: Diego Castro (off-contract)

Moves your club must make: What a blow it would be for Perth to lose Diego Castro, Josh Risdon and Rhys Williams at once. Castro looks likely to once again let negotiations drag into the off-season, while Williams is reportedly set to move to Melbourne Victory. Risdon has been linked with a move to Western Sydney, which could allow Scott Neville to return to the club.

SYDNEY FC

Players off-contract (13): Bai Antoniou, George Blackwood, Alex Brosque, Aaron Calver, David Carney, Bobo, Milos Dimitrijevic, Filip Holosko, Charles Lokolingoy, Milos Ninkovic, Matthew Simon, Riley Woodcock, Bernie Ibini*

Marquees: Filip Holosko, Bobo (both off-contract)

Moves your club must make: Milos Ninkovic. Milos Ninkovic. Milos Ninkovic. The Serbian has been the best player in the best team in the competition, and leads Fox Sports’ Alex Tobin Medal count and should be the number one target to renew. Both marquee spots are up for grabs, so Sydney could potentially have a rebuild of their attack with their entire front four (Brosque, Ninkovic, Bobo and Holosko) all off-contract. Brosque has said he will wait until last to sign a new deal, while Sydney are considering making an offer to Club Brugge to sign Bernie Ibini permanently.

WELLINGTON PHOENIX

Players off-contract (11): Roly Bonevacia, Lewis Italiano, Vince Lia, Benjamin Litfin, Ryan Lowry, Glen Moss, Alex Rodriguez, Oliver Sail, Shane Smeltz, Jacob Tratt, Hamish Watson

Marquees: Kosta Barbarouses, Gui Finkler

Moves your club must make: The earthquake that Wellington suffered also had an impact on the Phoenix’s players, with Roly Bonevacia’s family relocating to Sydney. Western Sydney are favourites to sign him in the off-season, and Wellington have experience in Lia, Moss and Smeltz in limbo.

WESTERN SYDNEY WANDERERS

Players off-contract (14): Nico Martinez*, Kearyn Baccus, Shannon Cole, Dimas Delgado, Brendan Hamill, Emilio Martinez, Scott Neville, Mitch Nichols, Bruno Pinatares, Mario Shabow, Jerrad Tyson, Liam Youlley, Terry Antonis*, Ryan Griffiths

Marquees: Nico Martinez (off-contract)

Moves your club must make: Mitch Nichols is keen for a crack at Europe and it could shake up Western Sydney’s midfield, with Terry Antonis (on loan from PAOK) and Dimas Delgado also off-contract. Delgado is keen to stay, but has fallen down the pecking order with Antonis’ form. Links with strikers — O’Donovan and Maclaren — have so far come to nothing, but Perth’s Josh Risdon and Wellington’s Roly Bonevacia would be good acquisitions. With 14 players off contract, will Popo purge again?

@ Mid

The FFA has already told the clubs what the cap is for next season ($2.8m I think) but for players looking to sign a 2 year contract everyone needs to know what y2 cap is.

I've just had a relatively decent effort of skimming thru 16/17 contracted players and I have around 80% confidence in the OP being completely accurate, which is the most confident I've ever felt about one of these threads.
