Even if Cartrights's batting is okay, his bowling looks innocuous. I'd prefer Marsh or Faulkner to support the attack.

Went to the first two days and the pitch looked an absolute belter. Australia bowled a bit fuller and that might be why we succeeded, but really we have to think about test cricket. Most MCG and SCG tests in the last few years have offered nothing for the bowlers at all.

Pakistan really looked demoralised. Good to see Younis Khan score some runs.

As for the Cartwright selection, he probably isn't good enough with the ball, but I like the selectors thinking. The first job of someone who bats number six is to bat. So you either want a batsman or a batting all-rounder.

Marsh and Faulkner are good players, but they're not good enough with the bat in first class cricket to bat at 6 in tests.

Probably true, but the attack needs another bowler. Cartwright doesn't have enough speed.

The Aussie bowlers only had a few hours rest between innings. Admittedly, they didn't bowl a lot  in the first innings. If Lyon and O'Keefe are effective it lessens the workload for Starc and Hazelwood.
