Love this sort of stuff!
Thanks for posting it, Green Lionii.
I would've thought the J League would easily be the top ranked league in Asia? Cannot believe they are only 5th.

Note that Australia's allocation is 2+2 - expand soon to get that last slot (as if we needed one more reason lol)

Pretty interesting reading. UAE and Qatar being that high puzzles me, even after reading the data. I guess they have easier groups and pick up more points that way?
We are also incredibly lucky that WSW won to boost those club points up too, otherwise we'd be under Iran and moving towards Uzbekistan. Great news that we might be looking at a 2+2 though

The rules say you can't have more than 1/3 of the teams in your league in the comp. That is why we have 2+2 but are only allowed 3 teams.
We have 9 teams and need 12 to get 2+2. Without NZ.

Rankings will always be skewed as long as the Champions League is split between East and West. It guarantees the West Asian powerhouses victories every single year and ensures their rankings stay high, even though they haven't won the tournament for 12 years now.

The arabs haven't won the champions league in 5 years. And then not for 5 years before that.
The rankings between east asian league and the rankings between west asian leagues seem right but the crossover is wrong. The arabs should all be below japs, sk, china and oz.

Al Sadd won in 2011 Whoops, my bad - missed them as the final was a draw and I thought the penalties went the other way. The general point still stands - since the end of Saudi dominance in 2005, only 1 West Asian team has won, and that was on penalties (so in terms of rankings it counts as a draw). Thus, the Western teams are really getting artificially inflated due to the forced separation until the final.

This is true, the quality of some of those leagues often surprised me when i see the asian football highlights package. Ive watched a bit of the Iranian league and it is quite good, technically as well. It would be interesting to see some of their players play regularly in less oppressive playing conditions. The UAE I'm a bit more sceptical of though, but i haven't watched enough to properly judge.

Great news that we might be looking at a 2+2 though Partly because of the East/West seperation, Arab teams collect easy points against teams from Iran and Uzbekistan, while in east asia, Competition between “JACK” clubs are so fierce

+xLove this sort of stuff! Thanks for posting it, Green Lionii. I would've thought the J League would easily be the top ranked league in Asia? Cannot believe they are only 5th. In terms of club points it is based on the performance of 4 years, J-League clubs failed to enter later stages of the ACL and No titles claimed in recent years shows their strength backwards in ACL

Surely that is worth something?

I stand corrected. Kashima did well in the final notwithstanding. I watch so much football these days, I cannot remember the outcome of all the games.

Kashima were robbed in that final. Clear second yellow on Ramos and the ref bottled it. Real thought they just needed to show up to win.
