Ok the Melbourne wave pool will be built in tullamarine! I'm going to say most surfers in Melbourne come from SE suburbs and those are the more wealthy areas! So it's a 42min drive says Google maps on a good day 1hr-1-40mins really depending on traffic so a 2hr to 3-4hr turn around drive that traffic and lights is a nightmare something youmight not do after doing it day after day going to work! $40-50fuel maybe and the entery fees ???? My stats are done from say Brighton and I am aware of all the new development from Geelong to Tully. But it's mostly occupied by recently granted visa applicants and hardly a surfing interested crowed! Surely a block of land around cranbourne could be more easily accessed by more surfers with a little more money to burn.

And public transport Access? it's important! will that be harder than driving? will someone let there kids go out there on public transport all the way from blackrock?

I think the most exciting show of a surfing wave pool event would be short and sweet In a Dubai style wave pool! You could structure it much the same way as diving.. How cool would it be watching archery and the commentator says(Now crossing to the wave pool to see if (Julian Wilson can complete the slob grab air reverse for gold) In this way we could have the pros list the difficulty of airs/moves as in diving and also have it judged as say how clean it was like the (splash) This method would also allow none surfing public to see and know what is a more difficult list of surfing manoeuvres. You could have interviews before and after! or do it with a Dubai pool for tricks, kellys or urban pool for a combo and barrel comp? make surfing have its own 100m 200m 400m or a track and field variety style thing.

How about a section that falls in front of you for deeper barrels and larger turns.

How will wind and rain effect it? could there be or has some sort of wind device been thought of? To raise wave height or add a side wind for different airs or barrel shape?
