Danny Vukovic is on the verge of joining Belgian club KRC Genk, who Ryan spent the latter half of last season on loan before signing for Premier League new boys Brighton.
The West Australian reports Vukovic is “in advanced talks” with Genk to sign a three-year deal which could increase his Socceroos hopes in a World Cup year.
Vukovic, who was heroic in his first season with Sydney FC, starring as they won the double, conceded just 13 goals all season.
That form has attracted the interest of Genk, who will have to meet Sydney’s $1 million valuation to nab the 32-year-old.

Gotta say this would level the playing field if it happened.

Why? Surely it should be on talent, not on who they're playing for.
(edit: Sorry, not sure if you're talking about national team or Sydney FC vs rest of HAL)

Danny is one of the nicest people I have ever met and I hope this is true.
He got shafted by the media after the Grand Final against Newcastle when he threw his hand in anger not aimed anywhere and his figures touched the ref figures... what followed almost ruined his career and cost him his spot in the Olympic team..
Hope its true... add the health issues with his son...

The very best advice I can give Vuka is to not confuse the name of the town with the Dutch word: Gek.

Double that. But if it means more money & better future for Danny, all for it. Up there with Ninkovic slotting in the penalty, my highlight of season was Danny, with his little boy in the aftermath of the GF win at SFS. Good luck Danny.

Well, if goes through huge congrats to him tbh - thats why you play at this level aspire for more. I can't blame him but a huge loss for us - he was the rock, big inspiration from the back, loved how passionate he is to win, its infectious, love seeing a keeper giving it to his fellow players to lift their game - talk the talk he can.
Love Football

Oh please god no. Must admit I'm kinda surprised, given the issues with his kid I would of thought he'd want to be close to home. If true however, then good luck to him, he deserves it.

+x+xGotta say this would level the playing field if it happened. Damn right it would. Who could realistically replace him? Birighitti? If not then pie in the sky stuff like Federici. Then more younger Aussies abroad like Cisak, Glover, Nizic etc. In other words hes probably not getting replaced and Redmayne could well be our #1 if we sign one of the young kids.

I believe that JC has worked with Federici in the past - could be an in.

Enjoy our sloppy discards for once.
