Heard a strong rumour neither Langerak nor Ryan look sharp enough for ange in training and he has been strongly considering Danny Vukovic for a start, can anyone confirm this?

I still think if we had just brought the entire Sydney FC defence (Vuk, Grant, Wilkinson, Zullo, Ryall, Jurman) to the tournament they'd be doing a better job.

There's no way this current national side would concede only 12 goals or fewer the entire season if they were a club in the A-League.

That's actually an interesting point coz thinking about it, I tend to agree. 

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that maybe, just maybe, the German national side might be a little more difficult to defend against than the mighty central coast mariners. 

HAL based squads have struggled against Indonesia in the past...

The current OS based squad aren't exactly killing the likes of Thailand either.

And of course I wasn't saying to fill the entire national squad with SFC players, but to not take advantage of only the most dominant side in the history of A-League - not even one player featured in any international game in the last 12 months - is simply bizarre.

I get what you're saying, but I'd suggest all of them would struggle even more to implement this back three and if we played a genuinely defensive structure, like SFC did last year, then the international based players would still probably be better at implementing it.

I still think, in this formation, they would concede plenty in the A-League in isolation of the rest of the team (ie. with an a-league midfield ahead of them).

Degenek and Wright would still be dragged around/beaten for pace and Ryan would still get caught in no-mans land.

Sydney have a leader in defense (Wilkinson, who else?) Australia doesn't, we have sainsbury who doesn't Marshall his defensive partners anywhere close to what he should and barely even communicates if I'm honest. THATS what we have been missing. (Among many many many other things)

In this game it did. Ryan come out, hesitated, come again and had the ball once again hit over his head, I'm not trying to scapegoat him, but you absolutely can NOT be indecisive or hesitate if you come out of your box.

For Sydney FC? Sure. For the rest of the HAL they're the third highest scorers in a 27 round season (behind City 15/16, Victory 14/15). If you're going overall then Roar 10/11 also beats them out but in a 30 round season.

They needed to score 10 more goals last year to eclipse City's record.

Yeah, I'd agree with that. Was a very good team in transition and wasn't incapable of putting pressure on and breaking down a set defence like some other good counter-attacking sides were.

Lets put it this way forgetting the 3 defense line this player that player - Vuka, is worth a shot IMO.
He beasts his area, OK it may be a whole different realm for him at NT level but he is worth a chance again my opinion.
He's a talker to his defensive line, he covers a shot BIG from a one on one situation, he won't hesitate in corners, he loves beating up strikers in them and even when his own defense is in the way lol, this is good.

I'd start Gersbach, Dylan McGowan, Maclaren and hrustic too.. I mean what do we really have to lose?

They are fecking good !
Cameroon beasted us and quick again, we were lucky they couldn't finiosh off. Chile, Sanchez, even off the bench say last 20, Vidal all game, Bravo and on and on.
They are good, I watched their lasted 2 finals vsing agentina, man, we testing out players in this one could blow out - I don't know it scares me.
Vuka for sure, love to see him given a go for I wouldn't feel that its a huge risk, he couldn't be worse than Ryan.
McLaren, yep why not Hrustic but the others don't know at this stage.

I think the SFC squad is greater than the sum of it's parts. I think if you removed individual players from the system they wouldn't stand out as head and shoulders above any of the current NT members, it's just GA has implemented a system that they all thrive in.
