+x+x+xFor me, the fact it is on One, is less significant than the fact it is on Saturday and you are getting a better product. People are losing there shot after one game. Why don't we see how the figures are going after the two big city derbies shall we? The second highest ever rating for an A League regular season game was the 188k Foxtel figure for the Sydney derby The derby figures wont be telling. Rounds 4 and 5 will be telling, as will when the summer sports start OK agreed, we will wait until round 5 before folding the league. Got nothing to debate so you are just being a cünt. Class act you are.

I still think the whole thing is debatable.
The early Sunday spot is available. I think WP have played it before. My question would be Why not play WSW at 3pm local time then WP at 7pm local time? Instead of both at 5pm local time. You may get more fans sticking around for the WP match after the WSW match that way... And I dont care if kids have school in NZ the next day.
It has always been the same, Fri and Sat nights are most popular.
If it were up to me :) I would have 3 & 1/2 & 1/2 time slots
Friday nights Saturday nights Sunday afternoons
Foxtel have signalled they are not interested in 3pm Saturday games.
Friday 7.20pm Friday 7.50pm
Saturday 7.20pm Satuday 7.50pm
Sunday 5.00pm
Where possible (taking in mind PG and WP)
Im not sure what the best formula would be, whether to have the better match to start 30 mins before or after the second match.
But break all matches into categories 1 - derbies etc 2- matches involving WSW SFC MV MC 3- NJ AU PG BR 4- WP, CCM macthes
So you dont put on or try not to put on high ranking games at the same time.
This is so people can change channel if a game is crap and it cheats the ratings. People dont have time to sit down and watch 5 games of football over a weekend.

Wow, people seriously just need to chill we have had 1 round and people are acting like this is the end of the world. We cannot compare ourselves as we DO NOT have the accurate, broken down geographic or demographic data, everything we say is mostly opinionated or pulled using suspect data sets. If my bosses told me they were expecting 15% growth in Real Estate revenues, I could find positives and negatives using that. We also have no idea of the expectations or metrics 10, Fox or FFA are using to measure the success.
IMO the result is not that bad and has quite a bit to work with. Ten came out and said they were happy with the result. That's good enough for me.

Good ratings. And we've still got the biggest game of all to come - the do or die home game against Honduras - to conclude things in November and decide our world cup fate. The ratings for that should surpass 1 million as well.

+xWell, I think it is now safe to say that the FFA is doing a fantastic job. Five more years for Lowy and Gallop....HURRAH! Its still a case of adding figures from unrelated samples together to give an inflated figure When the BBL gives a 1m+ ratings figure it is FTA metro only When the Socceroos give a ratings figure it is metro + regional + payTV + extra time average If the FTA sample doesn't specifically include 30% of people with payTV boxes and exclude them when they are not watching FTA then you are counting people twice Number of people with black hair who watched the game: 200k Number of people with glasses who watched the game: 75k Total people who watched the game: 275k

Bluebird, your logic is completely askew pal. Regardless, that is a very tidy figure and Channel 9 would be stoked.

Quality. Well below numbers of the finals of course, but still one of the bigger FFA Cup ratings ever.

+xBluebird, your logic is completely askew pal. Regardless, that is a very tidy figure and Channel 9 would be stoked. OzTam measure ratings in 3 ways: . 5,250 panels for metro . 3,198 panels for regional . 2,120 panels for payTV When you see a metro figure it is the first. When you see a regional figure it is the second. When you see a payTV figure it is the third The Melbourne vs Liverpool game managed to get a similar figure to the Socceroos game Tuesday night. Now if the literal ratings, as a loose estimate, was 1 person = 1000 people, this means the following: 500 people without payTV watched Melbourne vs Liverpool 500 people without payTV watched Socceroos vs Syria There is no logic in saying that the second figure is worth more than the first just because the game was simulcast. Adding the payTV figure to the second game is using the assumption that nobody with payTV watched the MV game. This figure can be found in the "did not watch" payTV figure on the night of the MV game Now if you have a look at the Sydney vs LA Galaxy game, which actually managed to get over 1m metro - this is what a 1m game looks like. This is what the BBL gets. This is what world cup games have been know to get People here crap on about needing improvement and growth. To achieve these things we need to be grounded in reality. That means saying the Tuesday game hit the MV v LFC figure. Bigger than previous Socceroos games which shows we hit a higher casual audience. But smaller than a "Beckham" game which means we didn't hit the full potential audience of those who can stomach our game. Not surprising as some people only watch the world cup Given the way the Socceroos are playing, and that it wasn't for a world cup birth, I would say being halfway to full potential is bang on But no. Some of the muppets here like to add every stat they have together and compare it to a single previous figure released in a different context and convince themselves that this was a magic million game I find it puzzling that people here criticise the FFA for taking the game on a pathway to nowhere, and then use every other minute trying to prove our game is at its peak with a shit and deceptive stats set In the context of every single ratings debate or post on this forum, the game on Tuesday was a ~500k rating game as we have seen with other ~500k metro figures. Not a run of the mill game. Not a 1m blockbuster If that's too real for the people here then they need to find a forum for fairies and fables

How does 56,000 rate overall?
I'd imagine Hume v victory semi final would have had a bigger audience because of victorys involvement, would be interesting to compare.

When you get 2 teams from the major cities you always have a good shot of a decent viewing number, not just Sydney but here in Melbourne as well particularly those who ditched the game due to the inclement weather, encouraging figure overall.
