Queensland Govt don't want and Suncorp doesn't need Soccer matches

This will not bring in any overseas money to the local economy

It will be left to Sydney and Melbourne to waste taxpayers cash on a dick measuring contest

I don't care. I just want to reinforce to Waz that Brisbane deserves nothing.

This qualifying could honestly have just gotten easier. Syria and Honduras (maybe) will both have to be somewhat attacking. These are 2 leg knockout games not a full table, you cant sit back both legs. That'll give us faster ball movement, more space and hopefully better options in the final third. I'll stay optimistic :hehe:

Suncorp will be a goat track can we at least play it on a decent surface.

With the Bronco's finishing 5th in the NRL, at most there will be one game on it between now and the Syrian qualifier. Ample time to get the ground in top shape for the 10th October.

Does anybody know when or where (which stadium) in Malaysia the away game will be ?
If it is near KL I might be able to get work to fly me there to check on my oversea team.

Not sure where the Syria game will be, but I'd be surprised if it was Sydney, as they'll definitely get the home concacaf leg if we get that far. Aami is probably the most suitable venue for Syria, or Suncorp as they should be able to get a decent pitch seeing as though there will only be 1 game of league on it between now and then.

No more in Melbourne when qualification is on the line. We seem to bottle it every time.

Yeah with the terrible GD that Honduras have and being a point behind, Panama are probably going to be the team.

Watched a bit on ESPN, would be an interesting playoff.

It will be interesting to see where the US plays panama, hilarious backlash from last weekends game against Costa Rica being in New Jersey where the yank fans were outnumbered, and the Costa Rican population is small! They're now saying every US game should be in some hipster heartland like Portland or redneck areas haha.

The Syrian team represent the Assad regime. Still a good effort by them to get this far, I suppose.

Most annoying for is how I'll get to watch any of these games given streams and all the TV rights. Eurosport HD the Playoffs 4 years ago but I trust Bein will get their hands on it. I'd imagine espn to have the playoff against USA if it happens. Maybe DAZN or eurosport will pick up the games too

We are very lucky - to be facing a team from such circumstances as Syria. If their Home game is Malaysia - wow, that is like our backyard. Our away fans should dominate the arena.

If our boys can't fire up for this, this isn't the making of a new Golden Generation, then it's not about 'luck' or what's 'fair' as some have said post-Thailand but about what they've earned. This is the real fight now and the types of battles that hardened the old Generation the '97 and '01 heart-breaks and the '05 triumph. '05 catapulted with tremendous momentum and team cohesion heading into the 2006 World Cup and if this generation does the same, we'll be a force to be reckoned with at Russia 2018. We'll see new match-winners come to the fore and already Leckie finally stepping up with his club form and scoring recent times, while Juric, Rogic and Mooy are starting to find their feet and seize their opportunities for on-field leadership. They know it's on their shoulders now and are only just starting to thrive. The passion of Juric post-Thailand, you could see it hurt but also fuelled that fire. What we have now, is not enough, it hasn't been quite enough but we still have the opportunity to prove we warrant to be there - just as we sought to do so, every campaign, in that Oceania era.

Syria apparently want the home leg as close to Syria as possible, Malaysia a last resort. Fair enough really.
