The issue is clubs like SM Hellas are either unable and/or unwilling to broaden their supporter base despite their lip service.

As I've said on other threads, if South Melbourne is serious about getting into the A-league down the track, they need to do 2 things; 1. They need to get a sellout to this game (I think Lakeside can fit about 12k or more these days) no ifs or buts 2. They need to perform and not get smashed against Sydney FC, which will be tough, as Sydney is a very good side with quality players, and the Vic NPL finished a few weeks ago I hope they do both but not holding my breath...

This is their best chance to showcase what they have to offer, and gives them an advantage of other expansion aspirants. A sell out crowd, no crowd troubles, no 'hellas' chants and a quality experience for those on and off the pitch. Get tir ight and it'd be a big boost for their bid. A 3K crowd, 'ethnic' related issues or complaints from players or fans and it may show they're not up to the national stage. Ball's in their court.

That died a long time ago.

Has the game sold out yet? The best team in the land is coming to visit and could be the biggest upset in FFA cup history if Sth manage to beat us. Surely single seats only left at this stage.

That died a long time ago. It may have mostly died out, but the perception is definitely still there. As long as people (especially those who hand out licences) hold the perception that there are so-called ethnic issues, then it is going to be a major hurdle for clubs like South Melbourne. More often than not, perception can have a far greater influence than actual fact.

Tickets haven't even gone on sale yet lol, no chance of a sellout, would need a miracle. If it did sell out no ifs or buts club should be admitted into the A league next season, that's how unlikely it would be. I'm sticking with my 7-8k if weather holds up.
In terms of trouble more likely to be from victory and Sydney fans if things get heated 4 nights earlier.

I don't think they've even started selling them yet, they said they'd make an announcement later this week, if you were after a serious answer.
