The NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers can today confirm that the Saturday 2 December match against Brisbane Roar has been moved to ANZ Stadium amid concerns that the Spotless Stadium pitch will not be ready in time for the match.

Following the postponement of the club’s Round 7 match against Wellington Phoenix due to concerns over sections of the pitch at Spotless Stadium, a joint decision between Football Federation Australia and the club to move the match to ANZ Stadium was agreed.

Wanderers CEO John Tsatsimas said the move allowed the club more certainty that the 2 December match would go ahead without issue.

“The postponement of this weekend’s Round 7 match against the Wellington Phoenix was a decision that was taken to ensure player welfare and the integrity of the competition were not compromised – this is something we do not take lightly, with our Members and fans an absolute priority in every decision we make,” said Tsatsimas.

“We would like to thank ANZ Stadium for accommodating us for this match as logistically, even given the two weeks’ notice, hosting a match takes significant preparation to accommodate our Members, partners and fans – something that was simply not possible for this weekend’s match.”

Due to the turf rectification works occurring across a number of Western Sydney venues including Penrith and Campbelltown during this period, options to move matches are extremely limited.

The club sincerely apologies to its Members and fans for any inconvenience these changes have caused and looks forward to welcoming them to our matches for the remainder of the season.

Really strange because the last time we played at Spotless the pitch was near perfect and that was about 3 weeks ago. What has happened since then is a mystery. Sounds like bullshit too me.

Well I hope FFA get tough and demand compensation.AFL got a bag of freebies from QLd government when their Gabba game was moved.
Any fans should also get free travel to the new location as minimum.Add to that a bag of free tickets .

See my last post in the thread about the festival. Someone from the WSW forums looked at the Spotless pitch and it's as shit as the club's claiming.

They have changed the surface during that period from the winter grass to the summer grass and it hasn't taken.
