+xBut on a positive note - if that was the last of our preseason games I would think we are on track for a good season. Lol. I couldn't believe with the preseason and the start we had that he been in for this long.

Saw this gem on social media. Two seconds left on the clock and McKay with sight of goal passes it to nobody. Please retire.

MOTM Jamie Young. Well done Fox, would have been easy to pick a couple of Jets players. Well deserved.

Johnny sticking to his usual excuses. Tough season, injuries since day one, players unfit, players out due to suspensions. We know are going to get better, players to come back, lost heaps of players due to injuries. Keep positive, still believe they can make the finals. Dead man walking.

Young > Moss Hingert = Georgevski Papa > Boogs Pepper < T-S OTool < Vujica TK > Ugarkovic McKay = Brown Bkf < Petratos Eric > Clut Maccarone > Nabbout Leck < Hoffman
We should win except:
Aloisi <<<<<< Merrick

+xNah mate, equal to Zullo remember? Mistimed a header, not the end of the world for a left back, seen strikers miss worse. Looks solid for what is only his 2nd or 3rd appearance for Brisbane.

I have completely lost interest in this team. Please Roar management, for the love of God, do something to revive this once great club! Coach, players, I don't care. Just do something FFS!!

O’Toole has another good game. Not sure missing one header (yes, I recon he stuffed it up too) is worth writing him off for. At just 20 he’s a real prospect.

Yeah don't get people slagging him off, he was very good in defence and whipped some dangerous balls but made a few inexperienced errors. Has the potential to be a very good left back.

In terms of quality that aren't even close. rating papa above boogs and maccarone above nabbout is craaaazy. They aren't even in the same ballpark. Surely nobody in their right minds would take papa and macca over boogs and nabbout? i don't think kristiansen can compare to ugarkovic either. and petratos is just head and shoulders above anyone in the brisbane team.

I've thought he looked very promising and prefer him to Brown.

Papa craps on boogard to think otherwise is absurd, one of the best centre backs in the league his suspension was very costly.

Not going to argue on that, the ladder says it all.
Here’s an interesting thought - if Aloisi and Merrick had swapped roles at the beginning of the season what difference would it have made? Same squads/injuries and all ...
I recon Roar would be up top and Jets down at the bottom.

Maccarone and Nabbout are supposed to score goals. Maccarone has scored more goals than Nabbout in a side that has scored less than half the goals.

@the fans If Maccarone was at Newcastle he’d be the leading scorer in the league. But to keep you happy how about Maccarone > Hoffman Leck < Nabbout My point is still valid. On paper Roar had a better first 11. The difference is the coach.

Same squads/injuries and all ...I recon Roar would be up top and Jets down at the bottom. Impossible to say because Merricks squad matches his playing style. His squad has players with real quality in attack while brisbane simply don't have that. they might have players that are performing well below where they should but they aren't the sort of players merrick would have. i think with merrick what he does is give attacking players freedom to express themselves, freedom to attack without fear. the opposite of ange. Newcastle has nabbout, petratos, rodrigues and when he comes back vargas, even champness. At wellington he had burns. At mv he had blokes like fred and archie. They all already had the ability, but its like merrick sets them free. what attackers does brisbane have? what attacking, "flair" players? the closest would be a 35 year old ben kalfallah on his last legs as a pro. I remember talking to you before the season about how bad brisbanes squad was looking. they aren't this bad just because of coaching, its recruitment too. aloisi has no idea what kind he team he wants to create. they're so clueless they didn't even offer broich a professional contract.

@The Fans
“i think with merrick what he does is give attacking players freedom to express themselves” ... it’s an interesting word “freedom”.
At one of the preseason games for Roar (Lions) Ross Aloisi came over to the fans and was chatting away and said words to the effect “unfortunately the players are confused about what we want them to do and how we want them to play”. That comment sounds so much the opposite of freedom

@The Fans. So funny that you wouldn’t give a start to a guy that you think would become the league’s leading scorer if he did play. Don’t think I could ever comprehend let alone agree with that level of logic. 😂

I’m talking about the starting lineups as you know. Let it go. You probably wouldn’t play o’donovan anyway, in case he became the league’s top scorer.

Merrick is the sort of coach who looks at what he’s has in the squad and then plays a style to match their strengths. So I reckon if he had Maccarone in the squad he might just have come up with a game plan that suited. Oh no that’s right he would have had Hoffman as his striker and Maccarone out. The fact that you call Maccarone lazy shows just how little you’ve seen of him this season.

I don't get the Maccarone hate. He's legit kept Brisbane alive single handedly. The difference between Avraam and Boogaard isn't huge at all either way you go. I'd take Georgevski over Hingert any day as well.
Aloisi is just a shit manager. That's it.

From the Brisbane games I've seen he seems to be putting in more running and pressing than most of the others. That's on Aloisi surely.
