Which team is in season? This is pretty embarrassing.

I'm hanging for a bozza rant.

Imagine what would have happened to Brisbane. How we have 2+1 is the biggest robbery in history.

Don't A-League teams usually do better in ACL when they are doing poorly domestically? Like WSW getting knocked out by state league in FFA cup only to beat Guangzhou Evergrande a week or so later and finishing 9th in the same season. I recall AU doing something similar during their good ACL run(s) too.

Again the ACL exposes how far the AL has fallen and how poor the standard of management is in the league.

Why would you drop a foreign CB?

By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

There is no rule. We have a salary cap and all teams have their ebbs and flows and until we have consistency this will be the case.

What is more embarrassing is SFC had virtually their best team and FFA bent over backwards to give them a rest.
I guess when the referees let you foul everyone and dont punish you in the HAL you think you can get away with the same in the ACL.

At least when Brisbane lost ,half their team were youth players who barely had a HAL game between them and they had no FFA favours at all.So there is a positive.lol

the HAL is a bs league. no one should be surprised that generally HAL teams would not be able to compete in a competitive environment. they have little practice doing it.

kaufusi - 13 Feb 2018 10:23 AMThe Aleague and the clubs have zero marketing budget. They advertise to members and that's about it.
SFC could rip Suwon a new one tonight. They've without several of the best players and we're in good form.

Almost looked like SFC rocked up expecting a win, and their arrogance was exposed in a substandard performance.

Tbh the Koreas had some excellent tactics but it wasn’t like they were that special

Imagine if they had of been in season...

There were on another level, the were simply lovely to watch compared to the shit A-League, just the passing alone was a joy to watch. Still in pre-season and made Sydney look like a local pub team.

When you look at how wsw won it and Adelaide made the final it was all hands on deck scrambling for life in defence and just grinding with a lot of luck thrown in, perhaps a touch of arrogance from Sydney leaving bjuis out. Adrian, ninko and bobo were easily nullified tonight.

Itwas an off night because the opposition ensured it was an off night, no shots on target ffs.

“Of course I believe we can go all the way. If I have learned anything from past experiences in the ACL it is the need to get off to a good start and win your first game at home.

Perspective for Sydney FC tonight, Arnie's arrogance showed about winning the ACL, get out the group stage first before making comments like that.

The ACL is a step up it always has been, aussie teams tend to get better the longer group stage goes by, so they cant afford to fall behind the 8 ball straight away.

All three 3 teams last year started poorly last year and by the time they improved it was too little too late.

That was a shocking  performance from SFC. Just after Roar disgraced Oz football, SFC, ostensibly Australia's best ever club team, was outclassed.

SFC had these advantages.

* Home pitch.

* No travel, whilst opposition had to fly a long haul trip.

* Pre-season for Korean teams.

* Korea had to cope with heat coming e winter.

I hope it was a bad day at the office from SFC and not a true reflection of how much faster Asian teams are improving relative to us.

Suwon Bluewings squeezed harder than SFC. The home team cracked under the pressure of less time and space than the HAL.

Sounds like loser talk to me, the supposedly best team the A-Leauge has seen and they get outclassed by a team in pre-season missing half their good players.

Embarrassing, just shows how weak the A-League and Sydney are.

Different situation imo. We didn't go into the game talking about expecting to beat Ulsan and even mentioning winning the ACL. That and we didn't get destroyed, we dominated Ulsan, just learnt an important lesson in how ruthless teams in Asia can be when you make silly mistakes, one SFC and Arnie should already know.

Salarycapped teams are only as strong as their weakest link

Closed HAL is failing with 10 teams
Closed HAL failed with 11
FFA forced to try a 12 team Closed HAL thatll just create 2 more mid table also-rans
and still this weird 16-team panacea gets trotted out.

It was a shit performance. They looked more like the nix than sfc but I don’t think it was because suwon were that good, although their tactics were. Sydney was just awful. Bobo looked like he hadn’t scored once this year. Mewjzerevski was anonymous, Ninkovic invisible.

Will be interesting to see if they can bounce back. I think they will. This might be another Mariners anomaly.

Yes indeed

I change it so that the order is club points. To update this Aus got 1 point from MV draw and Thai 1 point for their draw.
As you will notice we are .450 points ahead of Thailand for the last 4 years of ACL. We have a bonus gap of 6.5 points atm because up til 2021 FIFA world rankings are involved.

2015  CCM didnt make it, 2016 AU didnt make it, 2018 BR didnt make it.
