Meanwhile, Sydney FC has been forced to pay an additional $50,000 to cover up the Allianz sign at the front of Allianz Stadium, despite the insurance company also sponsoring the Asian Champions League. The Asian Football Confederation dismissed Sydney FC's appeal to have lights on the sign turned off as per their opening round Champions League match against Suwon, ordering the club to undergo the costly exercise of removing the sign from sight. The Allianz logo appeared eight times on the background at the pre-match press conference.https://amp.smh.com.au/sport/soccer/ninkovic-in-doubt-for-sydney-fc-s-crucial-acl-match-against-kashima-20180306-p4z34b.html?__twitter_impression=true

Suncorp Stadium sends it’s regards ...
The fine is cheaper than the cost of covering it up, so it’s kind of a win for SFC

Why is this an issue? Sydney should know the rules. In any case why does it cost $50,000, just cover the seats for goodness sake.

I guess it's odd because Allianz is also an ACL sponsor. But then again, the ACL are quite stringent in their advertising rules - otherwise, how can you keep those other sponsors happy?

Should ask Allianz if they are happy to chip in for the fine to keep it up.

It's not like they haven't know about this since we joined the AFC.

The AFC really need to increase the prize money for all teams in the ACL. Clubs in many leagues often lose a lot of money by competing. Then they fine everyone for anything.
