+xwhy did we cut gersbach?? he has been playing every week?? Because Meredith has played pretty much every match this season and Gersbach having rarely played till his move to Lens has now missed his past 2 games.

Congrats to Nabbout and Petratos. Well deserved
He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

The ones that stick out for me Dimitri PETRATOS Nikita RUKAVYTSYA
I know Dimni has been solid but he's not a game changer but anyhoo, I hope he does well. And really Rukavytsya , is that the best we have up front? I'm not a McClaren fan either but I don't really rate Rukavytsya.
I wonder how many BVM has actually watched since his appointment ?

Wonder if wanted to let Mclaren settle in more at Hibs, given he is just starting to hit his straps for them??

Troisi shouldn't be there and Brillante will just shit the bed as soon as anyone does the minimum amount of pressing on him.

My only surprises were Gersbach and MacLaren missing out, surprised as to why Brillante warrants selection given hes form has been poor especially in the ACL which is a higher level (is this an Arnie directive?) just press him and he will turn the ball over due to his poor technique under pressure.
Hopefully the likes of Borrello, Hrustic, Dougall still have a chance in making the squad.

+xCongrats to Nabbout and Petratos. Well deserved 100% agree. Milligan on the other hand doesn't deserve it in my opinion.

Brillante is just ridiculous, his form has been very poor over the past 2 months. Given away 2 penalties, at fault for another goal last night, and generally misplacing half his passes and fouling everyone. If he sees gametime the Roos are in trouble.

These threads always annoy me a little. There’s always outrage because player X has played less games than player Y at a slightly higher level.
BVM would be basing these decisions much more on watching actual footage. Particularly of previous Socceroos games. And historically, this is 90% of the time a much better predictor of how players will perform, rather than just looking at games played at which level.
Someone like Milligan has been consistently proven at this level with the Socceroos. There’s no way he could be excluded. A slight dip in his A league form will probably make little difference.

im not going to plug out the maths on it but it looks like rogic has the 3rd highest strike rate in the squad behind king cahill and captain mike.

Wouldn't have taken Brillante, Risdon or Troisi. Pretty much identical to anges squad except for a new backup keeper in jones, petratos and nabbout.
Borello, Arzani, Williams and Maclaren should be in there!

what i can see here is that the door is still a jar, if daniel arzani can keep making his case consistently from here on in ther's one or two obvious candidates for replacement there

Apparently Daniel Arzani should be in this squad even though he's only made < 20 appearances for a team that's struggling to hold onto 3rd position.

+xApparently Daniel Arzani should be in this squad even though he's only made < 20 appearances for a team that's struggling to hold onto 3rd position. Has he managed a full 90 minutes for his team yet?? Saying that I believe we need a bit of an x-factor player in the squad. ATM I'd say Rogic is about the only one with any x-factor (Timmy has the T-factor) but he tends to perform better starting than coming on. My personal preference would have been someone like Mabil ... plenty of speed, makes good runs, and can take players on. I'd pick him over Arzani simply because he is more experience (actually played 90 minutes at a pro level).

His ability to shoot and score from distance, not to mention he is pretty decent at picking a pass leads me to believe he has exactly that in his locker.
I think as a player to come of the bench against a tiring team with more and more space opening up around the box or against a team prepared to let you play in front of them, someone who can strike the ball as well as him is a perfect option

It is hard to rate the selections when we do not know how the team is going to play and what roles the players will have within the team. Any player who does not impress BvM in training or the games will almost certainly miss the World Cup and that could lead to different players being selected in the World Cup squad.
