With crowds down all over the league, The metrics fall back on the TV revenue from SKY Sports. At $300k a season I consider it more then enough to meet metrics. Channel TEN didn't even pay for the A-League marquee games so why should SKY Sports for the poor product??.

Haha that's embarrassing .Who would have thought Nix would be bringing in more TV money than any other club.$300k per club would bring in $3mill..So Australian TV deal should be a minimum of $2.7mil. Good metrics FFA.I would love Nix to throw that one in their faces.

Except that Sky Sports NZ show ALL A-League games, not just Wellington matches. Thus, the $300k isn't just because of Wellington. Sure, it might bump it up a little but Sky Sports NZ pays for the rights to a range of sporting leagues without NZ involvement (e.g. J-League; Aussie W-League; Super League [English rugby league]; all Australian home international cricket matches; the Thursday night Aussie NBL match each week [regardless of whether NZ are playing]; and even *shudders* shows 1 live AFL match a week plus a highlights show etc.). So they'd probably still pay for the rights anyway, even albeit at a reduced rate.

Sky Sports NZ is the equivalent of Fox Sports hear (ie pay tv) so that is a bargain. next season when the nix are gone I am sure NZ public will be more interested in HAL and price will go up

SKY Sports NZ cover all cost for coverage of Nixs home games that gets screened to FOX. Realistically SKY Sports are only paying for 1 game Wellington Home matches the rest are on delay telecast.

If there was no 'Nix, Fox will have to pick up the production costs of an extra 13/14 games.

300k is less than the average ozzy house mortgage.... so if you were a young person in syd or melb with your home deposit ready and really, really keen you could buy the tv rights for the entire nation of New Zealand and then hold them ransom to pay you 500k or youd refuse to show any A League instead showing family videos and endless replays of chappells underarm bowling for the whole year

+xDidn't realise Sky broadcast HAL games in OZ... Only Wellington home games are a SKY Sports feed. FOX just slaps a sticker on it for Aus TV screens.

With expansion coming, should Sky sports NZ be paying more or less? Ten didn't pay and look at the ratings they would be lower in NZ. I think they will prob pay less.

i think the bigger discussion is whether or not it will remain on 10 (or any other FTA channel) next season with the ratings the way they are. or maybe we might have to follow what they do in the NBL and play games during the afternoon to keep our FTA gig.

Phoenix are more than welcome if New Zealand join Australia and their players are eligible for Australia. Until then fuck off.
