Playing Kashima in their offseason, you won't get a better chance.

Loss every day of the week. Surprised as shit they won this one but Indo team was out of season ofcourse. Boogard is an absolute joke of a player. Can't name a single thing I like about him.

+x9pm AEDT (NSW/VIC time), Tuesday 19th. Not a jets fan, but wish them the best of luck against Kashima. Always support all our teams in the ACL, unless they are playing against Sydney FC.

Oh, I don't think it will be that much, but I reckon they'll (jets) need to bring their best if they want to earn some respect.

That Antlers logo is mint.
I don’t know why but I feel NTS, Boogard and Jackson are the kind of imposing defenders that excel in an ACL environment.
Either way I’m glad the Jets made it as I reckon they will concentrate on this more so than the league.
It’s also a just reward for Martin Lee and his investment into the club.

+xThey have a cool logo. And an appropriate name too: Kashima literally means "deer island".

+x+xThey have a cool logo. And an appropriate name too: Kashima literally means "deer island". Shame it's such a mission to get out there. I was in Tokyo last year when Sydney FC played over there against Kashima, once I looked at the logistics of it I didn't bother. Did see Gamba Osaka play Kashiwa Reysol though, that was pretty sweet!

+xIt’s also a just reward for Martin Lee and his investment into the club. This is mostly why want us to qualify and do well into the ACL. Yeah it's nice to play in a different comp against different teams, but having our owner get something out of his investment is great for us in the long run.

Australian clubs usually perform well against Japanese clubs so they are definitely a chance. Will need to take any chances though.

Going off Soccerway, Kashima have just played two preseason friendlies, both wins against J2 League clubs: 4-2 against Omiya Ardija on Friday 1st and 1-0 against Mito Hollyhock last Saturday. No idea about lineups etc.
The J League season starts next weekend. They didn't get much of a break after making it to the 3rd place playoff of the Club World Cup on December 23rd.
Hard to say how underdone they'll be, if at all.

I hope Newcastle do well, but anything better than a 2-0 loss will be surprising.

I would be very very surprised if NJ win. Merrick has never done well in ACL ,when he was with MV.

Kashima have a nice logo and all, but they don't have a cool name like Western United.

It will be interesting to see if he can repeat that performance in the remaining A league games. If they get lucky Jets could still sneak into the finals. Hope they do well in the ACL.
Full trophy cabinet (but yours looks a bit empty) ! Reigning BACK2BACK 442 A League and World Cup (Mens and Womens) Tipping Champion - so yeap, I do know best !

+xAustralian clubs usually perform well against Japanese clubs so they are definitely a chance. Will need to take any chances though. A-League teams have a combined record of 3 wins, 7 draws, 18 losses when playing in Japan Hope Newcastle win, but I think it's unlikely.

if the other team scores first i think it's over because i can't see newey coming back
if i was ernie i would tell dimi to shoot as much as he can because he is capable outside the box
