Fantastic to see Rhys and Spira back in the Socceroos setup- feel they definitely still have a lot to offer the NT.
From the A-League, think Davidson can feel a bit stiff to not et a call up, but with Behich and Smith in the team its understandable.
No Maclaren is great news - form has been atrocious all year (including Scotland). Taggart deserves another shot.
Meh @Brillante

Im very happy with what Ange has done here, something alot of people have been asking for, the mainstays really do need a rest and the next generation need a chance.

Stoked for Terry, but will defend the fact that it’s 5 months too late til my grave.
Lawrence is an odd one- his form has been below his normal standard recently but still very happy for him to get a foot in the setup.
I hope Deng plays centrally.

Meh @Brillante 5 goals from 9 appearances is hardly atrocious, that rate would have put him in the running for golden boot (particularly because in that time he didnt play CCM or WSW)

Terry Antonis and Lawrence Thomas in the squad. That doesn't quite fit the conspiracy.

+x+xPenalties are not indicative of a players form. Only scored the 1 pen from memory. 2. As a player who is extremely limited outside of scoring goals, to score 4 open play goals for an entire season is not form you reward with a National Team callup. This forum always talks about rewarding players in form and not playing favorites, yet ignore Maclarens limited impact. How many more 0 goal 9 touch performances does he need to have for the National Team before more people realise that his style of play is not suitable for international football where you don't get weeks and months to develop a style that benefits him like club football.

I wouldn’t have picked Rhys Williams personally but I’m happy with the rest of the squad.
Edit: I forgot about David Williams, he should be in the squad imo.

+xTerry Antonis and Lawrence Thomas in the squad. That doesn't quite fit the conspiracy. I agree that Arnie's supposed Anti-MV conspiracy is complete bs (because deserving non-MV players also missed out on the Asian Cup), but there's still no doubt in my mind that Antonis should've been in the Asian Cup squad.

He is playing in a 3 4 3 at Perth.

But fans of teams he used to coach will constantly bring it up to distract from his failings at National Team level.

I didn’t say whether he should be in the squad or not. Personally I wouldn’t have picked him as David Williams and Adam Taggart are in better form. I was pointing out the fact that you clearly have a hate boner for Maclaren. As for your comment on the style of play, I think Maclaren will be useful in a style that he’s suited to. However Arnie’s style doesn’t suit him and I understand why Arnie didn’t pick him.

On an eye test only he definitely looks a lot more switched on this year.

@jlm If I was at home right now and could be bothered I’d go and dig up the quotes.
That is exactly what was being claimed.
All because MV defeated Sydney FC in a semi final last year. Lol.

Giving Iknowbest's comments any weight is like listening to Moufloroornnge in ET. Again, (and happy to be corrected if I'm wrong) Pala has never stated that Arnold has a bias against Melbourne Victory. Pointing out his potential relationships with former players is not the same as saying that Arnold is biased against a whole club. It is not just Melbourne Victory fans who think Antonis was slighted for something that has happened in the past (I've heard rumours from Sydney fans that they didn't get along all too well back in the day), and there was legitimately no good reason that a player in his form wasn't even in the best 50 (FIFTY) players at the time of the Asian Cup.

Some odd selections (Thomas...but I think he could’ve been called up earlier when he was in form and playing well) but I don’t really have any complaints..McGree should’ve been selected imo.

they should have done this in the last window im happy to see they are resting up some players though. the last season was ridiculous - full season (think of guys in the championship with 48 games + cups) - world cup - asian cup. no wonder they have all dipped in form. it's too much. i really think we need to look at an aus/asia squad and a europe squad to take some of the travel pressure off the team for most friendlies.
