One week late than previous years, hopefully clubs all play each other with the same amount of times.
- 3 byes per club confirmed - Talk that the Australia Day fixture (Sydney and Melbourne) is cancelled - No break for international fixtures

+xThat’s disappointing if true. the AFC have brought forward the ACL qualifying rounds to late January, which clashes with Australia Day. very unfortunate. I'd like to see the AFC be a little more flexible on this, but not holding my breath.

No mid week games please! The league can't afford to be having 5k and below crowds.
Brisbane v Melbourne on a Tuesday night last season. Like seriously!?

"A-League draw for 2019/20 released next week. Hearing that Phoenix fans will get the opening weekend home fixture they all want..." https://twitter.com/pineyzb/status/1152365796657524736Looks like the Nix will be playing WU at home in round 1.

I’m betting Roar away to Glory in R1. Probably the FTA TV game.

According to the A-League Transfer Hub Twitter account, Sydney will play City in round 1.
This fixture as well as the Nix v WU match are two matches I wanted to see in round 1.
Hopefully the remaining fixtures are WSW v Victory, Glory v Adelaide and the F3 derby.

Well we all know how much everyone has been calling for that! And what's that, Priority 1 is to maximise metrics? Bravo new board ffa... And finals series. Ah, the kulcha... What an absolute shambles, proudly brought to you by new board ffa.

Disappointing that there won't be a Australia Day round. I enjoyed my first ever Australia Day away (third Melbourne Trip) even though it was a last minute arrangement. Was looking forward to doing it again this season. But glad to see that there's an actual logistical reason to it (Champions League) instead of the FFA just giving some lame arse reason. Perhaps the Australia Day fixture could be held on ANZAC Day. I'm surprised Foxtel hasn't just gone "ERMHAGERD. West Melbourne v Melbourne Victory. Friday Night Football. EMERGHERD. Sydney Derby at Bankwest. Saturday night football. for Round 1. Wonder who is going to get the bye first up. And do you get points for the bye?

Robbie Fowler used to play for Glory so I’d guess Glory v Roar would have more appeal

That number is massively exaggerated and secondly Brisbane aren’t very interesting for neutrals. They don’t have any star players or big names, have one of the weaker squads on paper, haven’t won anything in 6 years and have no rivals. (The SFC v Roar match isn’t a rivalry even though Roar try to build it up as one.)

Foxtel are still likely annoyed that Western United didn’t add Melbourne in their name, so they see little value in it now. I’m happy though that there won’t be a Melbourne or Sydney Derby in round 1.

I don't think it'd happen but what would you say to an A League weekend in one city like the NRL did?
It's be 5 games over 3 days with 1 Friday night and 2 each of the following days. The pitch would be destroyed. I think it could be a novelty if done at Aami Park. Victory vs Sydney at marvel would still work out.
The issue with the NRL was that Brisbane hotels and flights skyrocketed in price deterring many NSW fans from making the trip. Many said also that they really weren't interested in watching other teams.
If it were to happen then I feel derbies in Melbourne would be a bit tacky but may be the way to get people there. They play origin in WA now so it could be worse.
Central Coast vs Brisbane Western United vs WSW Victory vs Sydney Adelaide vs Perth Wellington bye.
Has any league around the world ever done anything like this before?

They can’t dilute the derbies if there are to many games or to close apart the games will suffer.

Seems like an idea that adds no value to the competition, but I’m sure the new independent body will be looking at other just as left field opportunities (ie. A-League matches in Singapore or Jakarta).
