First up is the Night Series, beginning February 3 and running til March 10, and the interesting step taken this year of bringing in clubs from both Division One and the new Saturday Division Two as well. Could be some big scorelines here! The groups have also been spread out by suburban locale, so hopefully it means all areas of the Perth football community can get down to a game near them:




I of course will be paying much attention to 'the grand old pommy shitfight' up near me in the Northern suburbs - Sorrento v ECU is always tasty, if not a bit harsh on the neck...

Did very well in the First Division last year, at one stage people thought they might be up for promotion - unfortunately for them Bunbury's incredible home record (11 games, 11 wins) pretty much ensured that the south west side would be going up.

I think I'll dump Floreat for the Shamrock ROvers I like the CMFEU angle.

My first match is on the 5th against Inglewood...should be a tough one.

Should be interesting to see who you're lining up against Benjo! Though I doubt any NYL players will be released for pre-season games...

Yeah, I'm hoping not. My main concern is that Inglewood will be a big, strong team, something we don't have much of (or at least we didn't before I went on holiday). I know a guy who played in their 18's last year, but I haven't spoken to him recently about their team. I doubt they'll play any NYL players, considering the season is winding down and they'll want them for finals. Even so, will be good to play a Premier League team and see how our standard compares, even if they were were one of the weaker 18's teams last year IIRC.

So apparently, according to the first team coach at training last night, Inglewood don't have an 18s team yet. Something to do with the Glory takeover at the club. So at this stage, my first Night Series match is called off. Very frustrating.

You're in the 18s squad then? Interesting. Do ECU dominate that level?

Yes, I'm in the train-on squad at the moment and the coach has indicated that he'd like me in the Saturday team. I'm not sure, as this will be my first Saturday League season. I know they did when i was playing Under 11s to Under 15s. I have a feeling they do.

Perth is going to have their group at a canter - Stirling v Baysie is going to be a great little game though.

Big upset in Group A overnight, with Premier League Sorrento going down to UWA-Nedlands from Division Two (the old Sunday League). Meanwhile we had big wins for Cockburn and Bunbury. Well... they would normally be considered big wins until Floreat came along that is.

Nah, not for me. We've got a friendly each Saturday for the next 8 weeks leasing up to the season. There's one guy in our team though, who got a hatrick in our friendly against Dianella yesterday, who the first team coach already wants in the first team. Looked brilliant yesterday.

Good to hear our first team got a respectable result against a tough team.
