The new independent Argentine Superliga starts on Saturday morning with Velez away at Tigre. Let's see if the "V" can get an away win to start.

10 Minutes in and Tigre all over us from my point of view. We need to improve and stop them getting out to the wingers or we'll be copping a goal.

Wow! Just got back. Must've been great turnaround in the second half, we won 3-0. Maxi Romero with a brace. He's looked good in the pretemporada, and I wouldn't be surprised if he goes to the EPL next year on big money. Only 18, but a beast. New signing Andrada with the other. Omar must've given em a rocket at half time. A great start to the new era.
Now for the rest of the league. For those that don't know, this is basically like when the EPL started all those years ago. The new league is independent of the AFA and it's run by the clubs. Of course Boca and River get the most t.v money, but then Independiente, Racing, San Lorenzo and Velez also get a good share, and the rest of the clubs get a lower share, but still better than before. Exciting times in Argentina.

Wow. 6 matches and 27 goals so far at 4.5 goals per game. It's crazy over there at the moment. Just watched some extended highlights of the Gimnasia vs Defensa match, and it looks like Colazo is settled in the Gimnasia side and playing better than he did at City.

Great first round, plenty of action, goals and drama. Check out Clarin or La Nacion for good articles (Spanish), or YouTube for highlights.

Maxi Romero, or Romerito as the Argentinian commentators call him, will be the next Higuain or Benzema. Just knows how to be in the right spot and how to force a finish. 2 goals today as Velez win again, second goal was just a peach of showing greater desire than the defender. He's carried on from his pretemporada form where he just looked the goods. In the other matches, Arsenal beaten by Colon, and Olimpo dominating possession but falling behind by a goal to Independiente. Olimpo now equalised. Olimpo looking better para mi.

Que Golazo por Chacarera. A great free kick to level with Tigre. Interesting to see some Tigre fans in the stands. A bad day for the teams from the south of La Capital Federal. El Granate beaten at home by Boca and Banfield beaten away at River. At least both will be happy the other lost. Godoy Cruz with a win over Talleres; Nice to see the Piratas win, even in their new City like kits; Racing smashed poor Temperley, who need Brandan back; Patronato too good for Argentinos Juniors; in Rosario at the Gigante de Arroyo, Pope Francis's team couldn't beat the locals and in a major shock, Defensa won away at Estudiantes. 2 more games to go, but already this has been another cracking round.

The most enjoyable part for me is that Velez are on top! Lets hope we can stay there or thereabouts!

Hi Guys. I think it would be unlikely that this league will be shown in non-Spanish speaking countries, except maybe the U.S. I know it is shown, or at least highlights in Spain, and also in other South American countries. We can see a lot of live streams or replays and highlights on the internet.

The last 2 games of the round were both 1-0 home wins to Huracan over Newell's (Messi's boyhood team) and Union Santa Fe ( a certain Marcos Flores once played for them) over Gimnasia la Plata.

Lots of good analysis (in Spanish) on youtube. I'll keep practicing my Spanish and trying to learn more and keep and keep watching the matches to improve.
