Sounds like it was less about results and more about what he'd done since he got there. Rumours he had issues with a number of the more plodder-type players, and made them all do technical training which the players found condescending. Think it was more this reason than anything as to why they sacked him.
Doesn't make it any less ridiculous though. Close to one of the worst statements you can make as a club that had just hired a guy to implement a 5 year plan. Football management is becoming a more and more horrible business by the day.
