As the title says. We've had a few NPL level players really stand out in the FFA Cup but not one has yet used it to to become an A-League player. Who will be the first and when will it happen

Cap I the squad doesn't help. Should allow clubs to do a +1 if they sign a player

Jai Ingham made a name for himself with Hume City before Victory got him on the mature age rookie rule.

+xJai Ingham made a name for himself with Hume City before Victory got him on the mature age rookie rule. Im talking more about a player performing well in the FFA Cup against A-League opposition then getting signed by an A-League club and going alright.

Agree With Joey Gibbs, he carved up the Nixs with ease in a pre season friendly.

Would like Joey Gibbs to be given another chance.
Imagine if he could reignite his career like Nabbout has

Danny Choi generared some excitement and did okay at AU with some opportunities. Then he injured his foot and disappeared back to Blacktown I presume. Played the ACL which was the only bright spot for AU's season last year and once knocked out, it seems like Danny has never been mentioned again.

Goal in the ACL, few assists and a goal in the HAL despite being a sub, did enough to get his first cap for the NZ team... I think you'll be waiting a while before you find a player who does significantly better than Ingham, particularly as the HAL teams develop more comprehensive youth programs.

I instantly thought of Ingham & Choi when reading the OP.
Hopefully we see more over time.

+xBig Kenny should be given a run by now. After watching him first hand last night I have to disagree, his ball handling skills are just not good enough. And I'm all for him to be given a shot but, unfortunately he just lacks that consistent edge.

Agreed Have only seen his games vs United and Perth Glory but from what I saw, his first touch (especially under any pressure) was not up to A-League standard (I know). Would obviously still be an aerial threat but would struggle in general play.

His run down the side line under pressure from Isaias was surprisingly good and a couple of times he looked okay with the ball at his feet, so maybe with some work at an A-league club he could improve his all round game, but he certainly is not ready to be a starting A-league striker, far from it. He would be a project player for the first year with hope he might develop with more intensive training, perhaps he could get a mature age rookie contract but he probably would not make it.

Judging on last night is hard, kenny ran himself into the ground at the grand final on sunday..i wouldnt be judging any heidelberg players on last nights effort, team is cooked. Hopefully for us nick epifano can turn it on next week..stage is set for him.

Yeah fair enough re that run. I was generally basing that opinion on the game vs Perth where he saw more of the ball. Last night would have been a tough night for a striker no matter who it was being so isolated with no service.
