Smith and Warner have been banned for 12 months. Bancroft has been banned for 9 months.
One winner is Tim Paine. He was relegated to club cricket and was starting work as a sales rep for Kookaburra in Melbourne. Greg Chappell and Ricky Ponting pleaded with him not to retire. Fast forward and within a few months he is Australia's Test captain!
Former Tasmanian cricket coach, Dan Marsh, and the rest of the state selectors, have egg on their faces. They relegated Paine was deemed to be behind Jake Doran and Ben McDermott as Tasmania's incumbent wicketkeeper, because it was argued they had the potential to score more runs. What was overlooked was Paine is the best gloveman in Australia.
The big loser is Dave Warner. Some of his Aussie teammates have said he is a divisive figure and never want to play on the same cricket field with him again.
Ed Cowan, former Test, Tasmanian and NSW batter, spoke about it on TV last night. He was astonished at what a positive dressing room culture Tasmania had compared to NSW. In the last few years Bailey (limited overs and Test commitments) and Paine, were not involved in the Tassie leadership team. They were missed and Tasmania flopped.
I'm astonished Lehmann has been retained as coach. Ed Cowan suggested which ever way, Lehmann should be sacked. If he he knew about it, or if he didn't. According to Cowan if he knew, he is corrupt, unprincipled and a cheat. If he didn't know, for senior players to pursue the course of action they did without his knowledge, is untenable.

Darren Lehmann resigned as coach last night. He finishes after the 4th Test against South Africa.
Surprisingly, he suggested Australia should adopt the approach New Zealand has. I've seen them play Test series and they are usually played in a good spirit. Brendan McCullum has been a highly thought of captain.

I was pretty annoyed with the ball tamperers, but after hearing Smith and Warner hold press conferences in tears I feel sorry for them.

Ball tampering in not sportsmen like..but what's worse, sandpaper or surgar residue from a lolly in your mouth?
I guess its how much you want to punish the individuals in question. Suck a minor incident blown way out of proportion.

After seeing the ball tampering doco on the ABC last night, I think Sutherland and Peever need to go as the heads if the upper echelons of the Cricket Australia hierarchy. They wouldn't make themselves available to be interviewed interview for the program either.
According to the reporter, they hounded the whole team after they were thrashed in Hobart against South Africa and told them they had to win - at all costs.

According to a current Shield player who is a good mate of Paine's, the Aussie keeper was simply dumbfounded when he found out about the ball tampering.
He just couldn't believe it!

They've even appointed George Bailey as a person to influence an improved culture in the Aussie cricket team.
Also, Pat Cummins is in a group to oversee improved behaviour on the pitch.
Behind the scenes Peever and Sutherland are considered part of the problem, but are still there.

Players should avoid such acts. Think before acting.

Quite a number of guys I know are not taking out TCA membership for two reasons.
1. Ball tampering.
2. Treatment of a lady called Angela. She was sacked by Cricket Australia for criticising the state govt about lack of abortion facilities in Tasmania.
