well if he scores 2 goals he will be in the top 30 goal scorers of all time which is unlikely but you never know....
if we have a pen we should give it to him...

Seems a lot of people on here would prefer there was no sponsorship rather than having a naming rights sponsor trying to extract value from the very real money they pump (bad pun) into to the team and the sport.
FWIW sponsorship does NOT equal throwing money away. Its a 2 way street that requires a commercial return to be viable going forward. Thats how it works. Call it a 'metric' or whatever if that suits but its the way it is.
If some glib marketing is the price to pay for continuing to have major sponsors long may it continue.

off topic. You know, Azarni's inclusion might be planned to assist Cahill, the quality delivery into the box is what Cahill needs, something sadly lacking from our game. also as someone mentioned in another thread, Arzarni's talent will show far more once someone of equal quality is in the box to receive.

Juric and Cahill as the main strikers it makes sense you'd want to get those crosses in accurately - something that really was missing in a lot of our qualifiers.

I couldn't believe he didn't get three assists a game. Literally out it on a platter Makes me wonder if fornoloni is seriously overrated. His exploits have been done with mooy and Arzani giving him 20 opportunities a game

Very true. Honestly the amount of shit crosses, I'm looking at you Kruse, from the Australian players is a joke for supposed 'internationals'. Just typing that my mind just drifted to that peach of a delivery that Bresciano put on Kennedy's head to qualify us to the 2014 world cup.

Yeah, you'd think it would be pretty much a given that wide players can hit say 7/10 crosses to between the penalty spot and 6 yard box but we've seemed to be more like 3/10 in recent times. To be fair Leckies to Cahill vs Syria was a peach but that should be the rule not the exception.

Bresc's cross for the goal was the only good cross of the game and it came in the 80th minute.

But your right tsf, Netherlands were only the semi-finalists at the last World Cup. Not big enough.

This ^^^ Just because an old has-been could score against Syria (other than those goals, when was the last time he scored for Australia???) doesn't mean they can do the same against ACTUAL proper quality opposition like France, Peru and Denmark. Same with Arzani. While I rate him to possibly become world class, at the moment, just because he can run at A-League level defenders doesn't mean he'll do the same and beat world class defenders, at this present time. If he does, then he will become world class in no time.

He scored a goal four years ago so he gets a free pass into every World Cup?
He also got a dumb yellow in that game getting suspended for the last match, so even if we won s d needed to win last match he’d again been suspended.

So because Harry Kewell scored a screamer 15 years ago, should he be included in the 2018 World Cup squad?

And yet in reality, he has pulled goals out of his arse time and time again for Australia. You can call out his goal against Syria 5 months ago null and void all you want but the fact that he still possesses that stunning vertical leap + accuracy with his head as shown by that goal shows that BvM is justified in taking him to the cup.

I'm happy to be proven wrong, but I'd wager that if he makes the final cut (which he will, it is blatantly obvious he is there for marketing purposes) he will do sweet f#$k all, just like at Millwall.

He’s there to score so not exactly ‘pulling out of his arse’.
He’s scored crackers and been joyous to watch at stages so let’s hope he does a miroslav klose.
At the very least we can look forward to a month of him talking in the third person about his achievements and facing adversity at his age etc...

+x so let’s hope he does a miroslav klose. I'd be happy if he does a Roger Milla. We gotta be more positive. This shit is ridiculous. Of course you take Cahill. It would be madness not to.

Just wondering who was our top scorer in qualifying (despite being resigned to the bench for most of the 2nd round fixtures)? How many other nations would have complete moron fans losing their nut because their top scorer in qualifying WAS included in their WC squad. It's actually pathetic how a significant proportion of Australian sports fans like to take down down their champions.

Was referring more to the fact that he has delivered time and time again for Australia at crucial moments during both qualifiers and in the finals. His track record is impeccable. As for the style in which he scores - he can do a Robbie Slater and have one deflect off his arse for all I care, but he tends to prefer the spectacular. Hey, different strokes for different blokes.

And there was an overhead bicycle kick for Everton. Oh, and that one against China in the Asian Cup. Just sayin.
