Forum name?thewestisland
How did you come up with the forum name?Dunno! Needed a username, first thing that came to mind.
Age?19
Location?Palmerston North, NZ.
TWG Refugee or 442 Citizen?442 Permanent Resident
Jersey Number and why?No real preference. Don't like single-digits that much though.
Occupation?El Studente
What’s your postage like? Forum and postForum - Consistent and boring.
Post - Surprisingly often. I write to relatives to avoid awkward phone conversations.
At what point did you realise you weren't going to make it as a professional footballer? Can you tell us a little about your amateur football career or any other sporting career? Well I was right on track to play EPL, then Sydney Olympic decided to have a revolution and I realised that I could never succeed without playing for them.
Seriously though, I played till 14-15 and then got better at rugby. Still chasing representative (semi-pro or pro) rugby.
Where are the burgers better?Burgerfuel.
Tasty Beverage?Wild Moose - NZ's cheap version of Canadian Club RTDs. That or creaming soda.
FM, FIFA or PES?FIFA. I play to disengage my brain.
Who do you go to the football with? Stag or with mates, depending on the location of the match. Mates for the big games though.
YH Manawatu:Favourite Manawatu player of all time?Michael White (liked him from the HAL - deserves another tilt)
Currently?See above
Greatest Manawatu game? Auckland in Auckland last season. Pretty much a formality then BOOM! 4-1
Favourite Manawatu memory?Yarning with one of the wide players during the match.
Worst Manawatu memory?Trip to Waitakere this year. The Waitak folk didn't even bother getting smart afterwards.
Funniest Manawatu memory? No idea. Probably the lulz at them losing every game then carving the Nix reserves.
Favourite Manawatu goal? This one.The Away Game:Active Support or the silent tactical analyst?Active tactical broadcast (in our national league there's nobody there, so they hear you!)
UK or European Terrace Culture?UK
Favourite Chant?Would have to be 'NOTHING RHYMES WITH IVAN VICELICH!' from the NZ games.
Which team in the A-league do you have more of a liking too?Naturally, I want Wellington to do well. However, their recruitment, style of play and the arrogance of a small portion of their fans stops me from really liking them. Generally I like to see Brisbane succeed, saw them on telly while in Australia a while ago - really like Murdocca and McKay.
What is your view on the finals series system?Until there is a relegation battle, you need a large finals system to keep the round robin meaningful for as long as possible.
Where do you see the a-league in 5 years time?Burning rubble to the side of the REVOLUTION. On a more serious note, 12 teams and not much else different.
What would you do to entice more big names to the A-league?Money talks. Having said that, would you prefer three Paul Ifills or a podgy Ronaldo?
What is your summary on the A-league season?Brisbane. That is all.
Other:Favourite football player of all time?Ivan Vicelich. Good overseas career, great servant of the game. All that while enjoying virtual non-exstence in the eyes of the NZ public.
Favourite non Kiwi player?David Williams
Favourite Kiwi Player?Smeltz / Vicelich
Favourite other clubs?Auckland City - not wholeheartedly, of course.
The club you hate but secretly admire?Waitakere United.
Club or Country? Kosta can transfer wherever he likes - but he will always be a New Zealand international. Sums it up for me, really.
Other hobbies/sports/interests?Rugby, Futsal, Frisbee, Drinking, Yarning, Politics.
Favourite non football sports star/s?Sebastien Chabal.
Ideal Woman?I could write a small essay, but a good sense of humour and not being a bitch is a great start point.
Where would you take a woman on a first date?Cinema. Easy to lay sneaky moves, and if nothing happens you still get entertained.
If you could be anybody else for a day, who would you be?Bear Grylls
Who would you turn gay for?See above - more through bromance and admiration than attraction.
what's the most attractive breed of sheep?Perendale*
*
denotes massive university bias
marry, fuck, kill: helen clark, germaine greer, julia gillardKill Greer. Don't know much about her. Marry Clark, she's a really excellent person. Which leaves Gillard...
Was the movie 'Boy' modeled from your childhood? Not quite. Growing up at the top of the North Island though there were a few things where I laughed and thought "Yeah, pretty much."
Are you a Crazy Horse?Sure am...on facebook :)
Does it offend you that when I read your name I read it as Whistisland? Not at all.
whats the standard of the ASB, like non-league BSP standard?Haven't seen much from the BSP but I am reliably informed that it is on a par with VPL/NSWPL, with Waitakere and Auckland somewhere in between NQF and top of State League.
did you know there was a bit in the NSW constitution that they could annex New Zealand if they wished to?Yeah. IIRC, Australia's different states were intended to be seperate countries at that point with NZ being a part of NSW.
Is kiwichick actually a chick?I have no idea :)
Where would you take Mel McLaughlin on a first date?Cinema. The sneaky lean-in is so much easier in the dark.
Where would you take that female linesman in the A-league on a first date? (I haven't seen her up close yet so not sure if she is decent or not?)Neither. As a result I'd go for cinema with her too. That way, if she's ogre as I can tell her I'm going to the toilet and actually go home.
Do you have any pets?We have a couple of fish in our flat. At my parents I have a cat, but I only go there in uni holidays.
Xbox or PS3?Neither :) It's been waaaaay too long since I've played a console game.
Is Sarah Ho's (A-League female lineswoman) mother a.... and if it's the case is she too?a....rabic? Don't think so.
Are there actually any NZers who can roll, flow or rock a show like Scribe? There sure are. I actually know four dudes who got the skills to go in and rock a show like this. PNC is one.
West is land or West Island?West Island, but whatever suits really.
which australian would you claim as a kiwi like we do with russell crowe and the likeMatt Giteau or the whole of Pendulum.
Describe Dylan Macallister and his contribution to the Wellington Phoenix in a [PAOKTZI STYLE] rage fuelled paragraph.something something lousy...something something something bargain bin...something something propecia...something something something D-Hack...something something slippers...something something something Rojas' coat-tail...something something something OFF CONTRACT!! WAHOO!
How do you react when Dylan Macallister scores a goal?Curse and leave the room, generally. Unless of course, I have already switched it off because it is being played in Australia and I therefore know the result.
Favourite Dylan Macallister goal?Against Victory. Rojas set it up, and there was little in the way of a spectacular finish.
When was the last Phoenix game you went to?Was lucky enough to see the reserves draw with Auckland a couple months ago. A real game though, not for ages.
How do you rate the Phoenix compared to the standard of the ASB Premiership? They are better, of course, but I'd be tempted to put a lazy tenner on Waitak or City if they met because the gap isn't that big...
My main gripe is that the ASB is underrated, with Rojas and Wood being the prime examples. I wouldn't be bothered if young Kiwis weren't playing every week, but to be honest I would much rather Aaron Clapham getting paid to get a warm backside than Diego Walsh.
Opinions on these musicians:Naked and Famous Excellent. Best in NZ at this point.
Two Door Cinema Club ? (I really only listen to Mai FM/ZM and follow the NZ Charts)
The Wombats. meh
Most overrated musician/s of all time?Nirvana
Does this suit make me look fat?Certainly not.
What made you join the 'Australian' FourFour Two forum? ;) Read it for the articles, then got fed up with the misinformed drivel that usually ensued in the comments section. Set about changing things, then realised that the REVOLUTION would clear out all these FFA jew lovers anyway.
