best kebab in sydney is at "sofra" at auburn....traditional ADANA kebab, with turkisk bread made in the shop,cooked over charcoal by a turkish guy with a pissed eye.....and when you burp you have another kebab.......

oh yeah they also do the shish in chicken and lamb......fark they are good.....

Had a kebab today at Floreat Athena (greek club), wasn't too bad except for the fact that the lady couldn't fold the end up properly, so it made for messy eating. :(

I've always followed the Gremlins rule of thumb, but reversed.

You aren't supposed to feed mogwais after midnight. Kebabs are opposite. Its just not right eating one before midnight.

Kebabs are good any time of the day or night. Occasionally I have a Kebab day. One for Breakfast, one for Lunch, and one for dinner.

I've got a mate who does that. Lamb and nothing else...sometimes garlic sauce. He's a weird one though. Doesn't like strange consistencies in his food. Like, he'll go to McDonalds and get a cheeseburger, meat & cheese only.

Snack Packs are just as good when you're drunk.

A box of chipss, and Kebab Beef/Lamb, smothered in cheese and Garlic sauce.

This so much, $6.50 well spent.

Sunk half a dozern Coopers, beat my dad (who is normally unbeatable in Pool) and finished off with a lovely Kebab this afternoon.

There's always the dissappointing point where I finish the meat and just end up with chips :-k If I've got enough, kebab everytime for me.

Anyway, got one friday night. All meats, all salads, extra chilli and garlic, the norm. Bit (no actually, VERY) shitty that the place have changed owners/chef(? Are they called chefs?:-k). They usually have this old guy, who is an absolute character, great to talk with (and has no front teeth :shock: his tongue always juts out :lol:). Now it is some Asian owners, and no, I am no racist, and have nothing against them, but if thats the quality they're serving, they've definitely lost a long, long serving customer. Way too much meat, thats all you tasted, hardly any garlic and chilli, even though I specifically asked for extra, something that the old guy would slab on like there was no tomorrow. Then the paper around it was wrapped so crap! Had to constantly pull the paper out so I didn't eat any of it.

It's like the old Pizzeria up the road from me. Fantastic Italian Family, did beautiful pizzas, pastas etc. They sold it to a bunch of Asians, and the quality when South so fast. After 6 months the health inspectors closed it down, and they got put on the list of places that get fined for having unhygenic food etc. It closed down 6 months after the Asians took it over.

I hate it when Asians take over a food place, and then slip some of their own food into the menu.

I've got food allergies out the wazoo, so most of the stuff in them I'm allergic to.

When I'm feeling adventurous I'll put some chicken in with my lamb. Did that with a Grill'd burger last night. Delish.

The only thing an Asian family should run that isn't actual asian food is a bakery.

I'll second this. I think that there's just a lower expectation of hygene and service which sees it all go to shit. The local milk bar, fish and chip shop, the Kebab shop near dad's work, even the local chinese shop which was taken over went to shit...

The two fish n chips shops near me have now gone to the shitter because of this.

I don't really eat food from local chicken shops and stuff, so I wouldn't really know. There's only one that I frequent, and the owners are still as wog as ever :P

I've had 2 kebabs recently, and neither of them have been impressive. Quite disappointing.

Fish and Chip shop near my house was good..Aussie guy took over then kept going to Phillipines and getting new wives :lol: Shops now shut. Guess it was the common Asian factor.

There use to be this little kebab shop near where myself and the then future Mrs Mad first lived that opened at 6am and did the best most Aussie breakfast kebab in the world. Bacon Egg and Beef with BBQ sause and a little green stuff. It was like eating angels flesh and was probably a sin in several different religions.

Eventually a rival kebab shop opened who were alot better at the 'traditional' kebab and eventually ma and pa moved on.

I shed a tear that day.

Seems like I'm not the only one upset by this. Used to have a good lil chicken shop before some Asians took over. The NICEST old, Greek lady you will ever meet worked in it. She'd always chuck in extra chips or a extra chico roll etc, and would say 'you is a big growing boy, you need to bigger for the girls' and gave a cheesy wink ;) Ah the times... :-"
