Agree it only took a year last time which was primarily because the players on the squad were generally good enough and (sounding familiar) it was off field distractions costing us. Same this time around I think only we'll need to do it all again with another unproven coach. Sunday first though, really important the players back-up the Wanderers performance

What I'm going to look forward to and study is the way we play this counter attacking game and generally our system of play. Broich said we are getting better and better with the "new system"? This could take a little longer if that is the case or is it practiced enough now to be a success? Interesting times.

Supporters’ anger with Roar owners the Bakrie Group had led to low membership renewals and talks of boycotting games. There was genuine concern only a few weeks ago that the crowd for Sunday’s clash against Central Coast could be similar to the paltry 6148 that attended the Suncorp Stadium clash between the teams last season. However, membership numbers have increased in recent days on the back of an encouraging fan forum with Roar coach John Aloisi and Brisbane’s first-up 3-1 away win over Western Sydney last Thursday night. Ticket sales in the 24 hours between Monday night and Wednesday night were strong and suggest that a crowd of more than 10,000 will be at Sunday’s game, the second match of a double-header that starts with a W-League battle between the Brisbane women’s team and Canberra United. The Roar are hopeful of topping last season’s home attendance average of 11,660. While it’s still too low for Brisbane’s liking and short of the break-even figure, it’s a number the club won’t sneeze at after their tumultuous off season. In further encouraging news for the club, players and staff are set to be paid on time on Thursday in another sign that the Bakries are committed to restoring the Roar’s financial credibility. Further talks are expected to take place on Thursday about David Pourre becoming the club’s permanent chief executive officer. Pourre has held the position in an interim capacity after former managing director Sean Dobson walked out on the embattled Roar in May. Discussions are also continuing with a host of local identities as the club bids to form an advisory board and appoint directors once an audit is completed this month. Former Roar defender Josh McCloughan’s official addition to the club’s coaching staff is set to be ratified within days. McCloughan, who worked with Aloisi in the off-season, is set to replace John Sime as coach of Brisbane’s National Youth League team. http://m.couriermail.com.au/sport/football/a-league-fans-showing-support-for-embattled-brisbane-roar/story-fnk6pqhe-1227569519987 The forecast "11,500" in there for the attendance is probably only a thousand below what we'd expect normally for Mariners any way right?

Dimi was a passenger last game and Broich didn't impress. Unless these guys together with our left and right backs pick their game up we're in for an ordinary time this season. Mackay is vital that he takes his place in the team this Sunday as a small step to rectification.

Be interesting to see if Hingert stays at RB Donks and Bowles didn't work out in the posi so who can play there that is competent? The club should be chasing a RB and LB if spots are available as the most critical but I can see Stef has got them conned so RB it is.

Yeah but this stef last season, we still have polenz.
Doncs is back this game so we have a far better CB pairing of north and doncs.
It's the first game everyone is rusty.

It's the first game everyone is rusty. I know we're rusty and it's too early to call but I'm not really concerned with the CB's. Bowles is good there as well. Stef never goes on the right (that I know at least) and we'll see him getting beaten with speed or run out of puff. One more year of Steff is 1 year too much. I expect him having time off with injury a lot though.

I suppose they couldn't stand another season of complaints. All that will get undone though as soon as the concerts begin then it's back to square on. So what's that, about 4 games on a satisfactorily prepared pitch? Edited by paulc: 17/10/2015 02:39:36 PM

Edited by paulc: 17/10/2015 02:39:36 PM I believe it when I see it but no, the pitch has been relaid for the start of the season (4 games) then there's the December concerts, and then the pitch gets relaid again after that in time for the December 27th game and of course the start of rugby in February.
