It’ll be good to see Yeboah again that’s for sure.
Not sure where Davies goes from here, that’s if he’s even in charge this weekend?

+x“football surveys” .... uniting fans everywhere (or so our survey said) "Dear Mr Gallop, given your obvious support for surveys as a means of truly understanding what is going on, we are wondering if you'd mind conducting an anonymous survey focused on your own performance. I'm sure you'd like to know what the clubs, players and fans think of the environment you have created during your tenure. Or are surveys something by which to assess others but not yourself?"

Whoever inherits this rabble is going to have fun trying to assemble a squad for next year that is capable of even scraping into the six. The year that Frank Farina was sacked and Postecoglou came in, there was still the foundations of a decent squad for Ange to move forward with. JA has a lot to answer for.

What has surveys or Gallop got to do with Roars record poor season and incompetence of the club in this a Roar thread? Ah, the bitter driven agenda continues. Carry on.

+xMcKay, Pepper and (I think they said) Bautheac all suspended next game. Mauk and Avraam both injured still. if they are smart they will stay that way ....who would want to come in and play in this rabble ?

Mundy, Henrique, Mckay, Nichols, Franjic and Murdocca were the only players Ange re-signed. who ever comes in will likely have the same sort of wholesale clean out. Taggart, Mauk, Otoole, Hingert, Ingham, Young, Daggers are all contracted for next season and i think wont be forced out (unless it is a swap ie Taggs for Fornaroli). i think only one or two of those coming off contract may get resigned but it will be a whole diferent looking squad next year. the coach needs to get in quickly and start talking to players otherwise we will be a long way behind. Ange had a good half season to get players in.

So for the next game, what will the team look like?
Hingert Devere Bowles O'Toole
Caletti. . X?(Visa Plodder) Lopez/DWS/Daggers
Ingham. DWS/Aussie Plodder. Visa Plodder
Henrique,Daggers,Nigro ,Aussie Plodder and Reardon.
It's tough picking a midfield. No fast defensive players to chase wingers. Maybe DWS or Daggers goes at the top of a midfield triangle. At least both can track back and have pace. Unfortunately we will need one Visa plodder in the midfield to provide experience.
My preference with the limited choices is to unleash the forwards.ie fast mobile players. WSW are not strong defensively, but can keep the ball and have pace in Kamara,Fitzgerald amd Sotirio. So our midfield is going to be chasing.

If you are able to follow more than one post, you'd have seen that it flowed on from the 'tongue in cheek' comment that we needed a disciplinarian who may not pass the 'anonymous survey test'. Feel free to ask if you need anything else explained.

If there’s no Mauk or Avraam then I’d see a 3-0 loss as an achievement.

Mauk might be long term (let’s face it, no point in bringing him back this season) and Avram has been overseas for treatment so I’d say a month away.

I think we'll see:
Young Hingert - Devere - Bowles - O'Toole Kristensen - Lopez Ricky Daggers Mikkelson Taggart

If they announce your second team half an hour before the game, I won't bother going. Could be the slowest team to ever play in the A League.

Something we havent seen as yet but still fits into a known Roar formation. Swapp Mikkelson with Ricky at the 70th minute mark and if chasing bring Taggs on for Lopez and play DWH and Taggs together?

Mikkelson has not shown enough to warrant his spot either. might as well send leck out there and build for the future.

Reardon (stunned rabbit under a spotlight) with this team will destroy his confidence. He’s not ready.

Agreed that Nigro was not that great and Mikkelson has not shown much since his first game but I think the stocks are pretty thin player wise. Given we are not going anywhere this season and with not much else about in that position, I would be willing to give Nigro another start, but would consider swapping Mikkelson and Leck for that wing position.

A good starting point would be to select the players that wont be here next year and put them to the bottom of the selection pile, and only select them when you have to.
Then pick the side, almost like a trial side, to give the best chance of evaluating the rest and whether they should be here next year.
The first list is going to be bigger than the second but some players should not be starting over others eg TK shouldn’t start over Caletti, Mikklesen should not start over Leck, DWH, or Dingham.

Bang on the money, season is over so there is no point using players who are past it or going next season, its the perfect time to give young players game time. The old boys have proven they are not up to it and the young ones as well to a degree, but I know who I would rather want to watch.

Suspended is McKay, Bautheac, Pepper & Reardon (sent off in the NYL game).
Injured is Mauk, Holman & Papadopoulos.
So that’s us down to 16 players. Not much competition for places right lol
(Plus the youth team are playing a “win and make the GF” NYL game on Saturday and I’d rather they’d play there and win tbh).

I hear what you're saying and agree to some extent, but which of the current team can hold a candle to 09/10 Henrique, Mckay, Nichols, Franjic and Murdocca? For reference, below is the 2009/10 squad list. I think Ange would have kept the 3 highlighted players if the Roar didn't offload them for cash (I don't think anyone from the current squad is going to be bought by a Dutch club any time soon). So a bigger rebuild this time around compared to 09/10. Matt Ham Andrew Packer Luke DeVere Pieter Collen Josh McCloughan David Dodd Michael ZulloMassimo Murdocca Sergio van Dijk Steven Bryce Reinaldo Matt Mundy Henrique Adam SarotaMatt McKay Mitch Nichols Isaka Cernak Griffin McMaster Thomas OarIvan Franjic Tim Smits

You can’t dispense with everyone so Young, Devere, Papa, Haggart and McKay for leadership, experience and stability would form the backbone from the available squad.

I haven't seen a lot of them. Ingham - no D'Agostino - is a squaddie. He brings with him that Matt Simon type over enthusiasm/thuggery. Small chance he could blossom into something special (ala Nabbout). Caletti - Have always had huge raps on him. I think the more you understand about football, the more you appreciate his value to a team.
