The World Game:The Story Of How Football Went Global
Les Murray.

This is a good historical read about football in Australia.

There is more detail, elucidating issues where I lacked the detail of events that occurred in Australia since the fifties.

Mr and Mrs Soccer
Les Murray

Not worth reading. Too much of Les's adulation of Johnny Warren.

It also highlights Les having a big ego and too much hubris for a football non-entity. After reading this book I vowed never to read a Les book again.

Thankfully, someone bought me The World Game, which was an excellent read.

For someone who appears to be inarticulate on TV as he has aged, Les is an eloquent writer.

Les Murray is a modern day Joey Deacon, with Foster speaking his words and Zrillic writing them down.

Pele:The Autobiography

An interesting read.

Apart from David Beckham, most other biographies, or autobiographies I've read, have been Australian players struggling to land a contract in Europe.

In Pele's case his ability was never doubted by anybody. It seems like his career was almost always on a high, apart from injuries. Off the pitch, and when he finished playing, other issues have arisen with him being so famous. Having finished reading this book, I'm not sure a career in football is a great pathway in life.

I'm sure Pele wouldn't share that last sentiment...!
