We've had flops over the years with strikers and attackers. Shevchenko was just terrible. Pizzaro was useless. Malouda is a waste of space. But Kalou has been good. At least he isnt like Anelka and Drogba. Keep him for the love of god. [-o<
He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

All the chelsea fans I know say Kalou is Kalou-less because he hasn't got any idea. He's shite most games. Lots of clubs are interested in Given, but if Newcastle let him go, they can say hello to the championship. BAHAHAHAHAHAHA Heskey to Chelsea  go for it. That would be a tops laugh. I'd die if he came back to Liverpool, he's just shit. HE only looked good because of Owen. Pennant has said he doesn't want to play for another team in england. Real Madrid looks like his destination, and they can have him. I'd be questioning Aguirre's ambition if Atletico signed him to be honest. Redknapp wants Defoe, and given the spat with Adams, I can see it happening. If Arteta leaves Everton, they're fucked. They need him there to score the goals half the time. He's their X-factor. @ The idea of Hughes changing tact from signing Bridge, a 6mil player to Lahm a 15mil player. 17mil for Di Maria is a bit rich. They only paid 4mil for him, 12mil is more like it.

Kalou is getting better, just very slowly. I like him because he is the only striker that is different from Anelka and Drogba. He is a breath of fresh air. Heskey to Chelsea would just be embarassing #-o

Mikel Arteta to Arsenal would be great! We need someone just like him with Cesc out. He is proven in the Premier League and has a lot of experience. I hope there is truth to this rumour. Everton would and should be reluctant to sell though.
Gokhan Inler was talked about in pre-season and he was not ready on a move to the Premier League and such a big club. Doubt there is any truth to this, just a rehash.
Xabi Alonso could still happen, though I really don't see it happening with Liverpool in such a strong position. I can't see them selling to a direct rival midway through the season.
Pape Diakhate is one of those players who most people would need to look up on google just to know what club he plays for. Very much a Wenger signing and for that reason alone, probably the most likely to happen.:p

Interesting stuff. Heskey is a very overrated player and I would really, really like to see him at Chelsea. Pennant to Real madrid would surprise me TBH. Everton, for their own sake should not sell Arteta.
Thanks imno.:) Just edited that just a tad after you posted cos I re-read your transfer whispers and I came across that. That'll teach me to skim read!:d

Confirmed hey? First I've heard of it, but a lot of you guys keep a closer eye on on it than I do I guess. Don't R.Madrid have Mahamadou Diarra already screening their backline?

Cheers imno. IMO owen should nver have left Liverpool. He had the world at his feet and his move to Real madrid was the start of his slow demise. That's just my observations anyway.
If Arsenal are looking to offload Gallas, where would he go to?
What if Ramos does really well in his short term stint? Any chance of a contract extension, or is it set in stone that he'll leave at the conclusion of that? Even as a Man U fan, I'd like to see Wenger stay in the premiership.
I also notice that it seems with that news of Tosic that United will stay dormant on the transfer front this month.

LIVERPOOL Budget: Probably sell to buy. Owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks are struggling to find the money to build a new stadium and they may feel they have pushed the boat out far enough.
January previous: Manager Rafael Benitez prefers to do his business in the summer but he has spent in January before. He splashed out £6.3m on Real Madrid's Fernando Morientes in 2005 and brought in Javier Mascherano on loan two years later. What they need: Two quality full-backs would be beneficial. Alvaro Arbeloa is unconvincing, while Andrea Dossena and Phillip Degan have failed to get to grips with the Premier League. A striker in the target-man mould would appear to be a priority. Liverpool might also like to add quality on the right side.
Who they might buy: Wigan's Emile Heskey has been strongly linked to the club but he was hardly Anfield's most popular figure in his first spell at the club and this may be regarded as a retrograde step. Portsmouth's Glen Johnson might be an outside bet for the right-back slot. BBC Radio Merseyside's Mike Hughes says: "Spurs' Aaron Lennon could prove to be an astute buy, given his pace. Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp could be willing to do business, with Jermaine Pennant and Yossi Benayoun as potential swap candidates, plus a cash adjustment. Maybe even more exciting for the Reds would be Standard Liege's Axel Witsel. He's quick, powerful, can score goals and can play in a variety of roles."
Who they might sell: Liverpool would love to cash in on Jermaine Pennant - a poor purchase by Benitez and who has never fulfilled his potential. Yossi Benayoun might also be in the market if Benitez can strike the right deal, either cash or exchange. There are a variety of peripheral figures in the squad but there is hardly a queue of potential purchasers.
What the fans say: "I'd like to see Michael Owen and Ashley Young join the Reds. Owen's a goal poacher, which we badly need, and Young is a player with pace who actually knows how to use it, and can score goals." WittyRed on 606

A few more rumours, think some might be the same as imno's but oh well.
Spurs have seen an audacious £30 million bid for Pompey trio Glen Johnson, Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe turned down. (Guardian)
Arsenal want Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta to replace injured captain Cesc Fabregas, although he will cost at least £12 million. (Sun)
Should Arsene Wenger fail, he will instead attempt to capture another Spaniard, Liverpool's Xabi Alonso. (Sun)
Real Madrid have emerged as rivals to Man City for the signature of Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz. (Sun)
Both Newcastle and Everton want Wolves winger Michael Kightly. It will cost them at least £4 million to prise him away from the Championship leaders. (Sun)
The Toffees are also interested in signing Chelsea central-defender Michael Mancienne, currently on loan at Wolves. (Sun)
Should David Moyes succeed, Mick McCarthy will turn to Mancienne look-a-like Tamika Mkandawire from Leyton Orient to fill his boots. (Sun)
The O's themselves are keen to spend in January. Stevenage talisman Steve Morison is top of their shopping list for around £100,000. (Star)

I'd be very keen to see how Arshavin goes in the EPL. He did exceptionally well at Euro 2008 so IMO he should do fine in England.
Weren't Spurs apparently chasing him? I wonder how this news will go down in their part of London.

I can't see Wenger parting with 18mil for a 28 year old. nice copy and paste job there imno...all the more credibility added by their ability to spell Degen. Quote:Cheers imno. IMO owen should nver have left Liverpool. He had the world at his feet and his move to Real madrid was the start of his slow demise. That's just my observations anyway. A few Arsenal rumours in there. Oh and it's not from Tribal :) Quote: Arsenal risk losing both William Gallas and Kolo Toure - their first-choice centre-halves last season - during January.
With Kolo Toure, increasingly out of favour at the Emirates, believed to be a target for Manchester City, fresh reports now claim that William Gallas, stripped of the captaincy in November, could leave for AC Milan.
According to The Daily Telegraph, Milan want 'an established centre-half to replace 40-year-old Paolo Maldini and 32-year-old Alessandro Nesta, who has been troubled by injuries' and, although Gallas is still under contract at Arsenal, the Italians 'would be able to match his £80,000-a-week wages and end the players' torment in North London.'
The general consensus is that, although he may be willing to sell Toure, Arsene Wenger would only consider allowing Gallas to depart if he could first acquire a replacement. The Sun claims that, as 'Fulham have said they are not interested in selling Brede Hangeland, Wenger's top target', Gallas 'faces the prospect of spending the rest of the season at Arsenal.'
However, The Daily Telegraph suggests that Wenger might consider bidding for Matthew Upson.
'Wenger remains an admirer of Upson, who left the club for Birmingham in 2003 and moved, four years later, to West Ham. With Gianfranco Zola having to sell some of his prized assets to avert financial problems at Upton Park, he would find it difficult to ignore a reasonable offer and Upson could be bought for around £10m,' it reports.

Failing that, there's always the stellar pairing of Djourou and Senderos ;) Quote:neither can i but maybe its broken into peices like 13-15 mil first up and the rest based on goals/ apperances That's still a lot of money from Wenger for a 28 year old. He's a decade too old for Wenger.

Man United sign Serbian duo January 2, 2009 Manchester United have completed the signings of Serbian duo Zoran Tosic and Adem Ljajic from Partizan Belgrade. Click here United announced a couple of months ago they had reached agreement with Partizan for the duo, since when the Red Devils have been attempting to agree personal terms. At one point it was suggested talks had collapsed as the various parties could not reach a satisfactory conclusion. However, any outstanding issues have now been resolved, leaving Tosic free to join the Old Trafford outfit next week, with Ljajic staying in Belgrade for the remainder of the season. Despite being just 21, Tosic has already made 12 appearances for Serbia and is regarded as one of the best young wide players in Europe. In theory, his arrival could be bad news for Nani, who has struggled to make anything like the same impact as fellow countryman Cristiano Ronaldo, having left Sporting Lisbon for United 18 months ago. However, with Ryan Giggs now 35 and set to figure even less over the next 18 months, Sir Alex Ferguson may decide to persevere with Nani, giving Tosic time to get used to his new surroundings. At just 17, Ferguson feels Ljajic will benefit from the stability of remaining with Partizan, knowing his first-team opportunities at United would be almost non-existent this season. Ljajic has already made his presence felt at under-21 level for Serbia and most observers believe it is only a matter of time before he gains full international honours. It has been suggested United could end up paying around £17million for the duo, who will link up with Nemanja Vidic at Old Trafford, although that figure is likely to be based heavily on future success and the club have refused to comment on the size of an initial payment. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=606267&sec=transfers&cc=3436Edited by random_hero: 2/1/2009 11:17:49 PM

Wayne Bridge: Heading to Eastlands?
Chelsea have confirmed an approach from City to sign the 28-year-old and Bridge is due at the City of Manchester Stadium to thrash out personal terms to bring an end to a frustrating five-and-a-half-year spell at Stamford Bridge, where he was a peripheral figure.
City manager Mark Hughes had identified his defence as a problem area and the signing of England international Bridge will come as a huge relief for the former Blackburn Rovers manager, who had also considered a swoop for Bayern Munich left-back Philipp Lahm.
Bridge is set to sign a four-year contract at City and is expected to earn close to the £4m-a-year wages he earned at Chelsea since moving to Stamford Bridge from Southampton in a £7million deal in 2003.
The left-back is behind Ashley Cole in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge and has started just three Premier League games so far this season.
Meanwhile, Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari is reportedly eager to sign CSKA Moscow's Yuri Zhirkov as a replacement for Bridge, although "Russia's Ronaldinho" has earned far more recognition as an attacking winger rather than a left-back.
The 25-year-old is a Russian international and the Blues may face competition for the highly rated player.
