They're not looking at it that way though. They're looking at it as these players are being signed on big bucks because they can be big performers. Samba, Ben Haim and Remy (and no doubt someone else before the day is out) are players who can make serious changes at the club's fortunes.

And I've got no doubt the players would have relegation clauses in their contracts including minimum release fees, pay cuts and the like.

It's a no brainer for guys like Remy and Samba. Get a massive paycheck until May, if QPR get relegated they'll just bail and there'll be no shortage of clubs who want their services. Meanwhile they sit pretty on 100k/week with next to zero pressure to perform.
