Guillem Balague is reporting Luis Alberto from Barcelona's B team is on the verge of signing for Liverpool.
It's like being back in Benitez's bargain bin dumpster-diving era.
Also, apparently Madrid are prepping an 80m bid for Bale according to The Sun

Im all for the club being a lot smarter with transfers That's true, but signing a bunch of 'bargain basement' players in the name of "squad depth" doesn't help when they don't work out and you've got a whole bunch of mediocre deadwood that you inevitably have to move along at a loss, sitting there taking up space on the wage budget. See: Roy Hodgson's signings. We showed some promising signs moving for Coutinho, but it's two steps back again in unambitious signings like Luis Alberto. Especially when he's almost exactly the same kind of player as Suso.

Anderlecht striker Mbokani has rejected a move to dynamo Kiev, holding out for an English club. By the looks if it, west brom will sign him if they cant get Lukaku, who in turn is waiting to see whether he has a future at Chelsea.

Marca are reporting that Real Madrid are keeping tabs on the Thiago Alacantra situation at Barcelona. :? That'd be the cat amongst the pigeons.

"I am leaving Real Madrid, the decision has been made, I feel the time is right and I want a change of scenery," - Gonzalo Higuain.
Y'know, if Liverpool HAVE to lose Suarez...

If that was every players thinking then no clubs would ever improve. Hes had Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea and Juventus all linked to him. All of them can offer Champions League football. We cant even offer Europa League. The only way hed move to us is if we got bought by oil barons in the next few weeks Yeah, he's had them linked to him by newspapers. Not received offers from them. It's horse shit to suggest that Liverpool can't compete in the transfer market as an attractive option to players. If being 'top four' and 'champions league football' was all players thought about Atletico would never have signed Aguero or Falcao. Liverpool would never have signed Suarez or Coutinho. Tottenham would never have signed Modric or Bale.

The award for the best transfer rumour of the day has to the rumour of Real spending 125m to buy both Bale and Suarez. 85m for Bale and 40m for Suarez

If being 'top four' and 'champions league football' was all players thought about Atletico would never have signed Aguero or Falcao. Liverpool would never have signed Suarez or Coutinho. Tottenham would never have signed Modric or Bale. Well those situations are completely different, Higuain is known to be a top level player, aguero was young when he went to atletico when he was 18, Falcao was good at porto but I guess no big teams bid for him, suarez was only proven in holland and had/has discipline issues and Coutinho was very highly rated initially at inter. It is not horseshit to suggest liverpool can't compete with top level teams quite honestly. For liverpool to again compete at the top, they're going to have to upgrade slowly or with young players, which they appear to be doing.

Claudio Pizarro has joined Schalke on a free transfer.
Atletico Madrid have signed Rayo Vallecano's brazilian striker Leo Baptistao for an undisclosed fee.
Cavani, Bale and Rooney are all being suggested as potential first signings by Jose Mourinho.

Really rate him as a player but I think it's more interesting to see who they get rid of now.

It will be interesting how Navas settles because I think he gets really bad homesickness

moofa wrote:It will be interesting how Navas settles because I think he gets really bad homesickness Can confirm this. This is why as a 27 year old he's only had 23 caps to his name. He's a great player but I wouldn't be surprised to see him leaving after a season because of homesickness. Also, I don't know that City will sell anyone. They haven't really had a 'true' right winger for a while and they're just bringing one in as an identified weakness from last campaign. Also rumoured overnight: Turan to Liverpool Muchu to Arsenal Isco to City Sneijder to Chelsea

I stand by that he doesn't improve the team. He's not the kid of player who we should be looking at for top 4 ambitions.
