sam.gilbert wrote:vermaelen looks like a good signing because of his goals, but i think the decision to buy him will come back to bite wenger later in the season. they really needed a tall, imposing cb, not a goal scoring classy one that stand 5'10. theyve got enough goal scorers already. The thing is he's scoring so many goals from headers... Against taller defenders. He may not be that tall himself but the guy can jump and knows how to header the ball. That is crucial in defending against set pieces and crosses. Also on the bench we have Djourrou who's currently out with injury who is a giant and Senderos. No idea how tall Senderos is but pretty sure he's bigger than Vermaelen.

A draw for Forest away at Palace. Good result. It means we are still undefeated away from home and just outside the play-offs by goal difference. Good time for the Tricky Trees.

Quote:Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard has emerged as a £30m-target for Real Madrid next summer. Full story: The Sun Says it all. Gerrard won't be going anywhere for less than 50m. There's reports today that Rafa is keeping an eye on Valencia winger Juan Manuel Mata. I'd take that any day to replace Riera. That could be a great deal since he's available on a free.

imnofreak wrote:Sunderland look set to sign Middlesbrough winger Adam Johnson, whose contract expires next summer, for £3m in January. Full story: The Sun I've been hinting at this one for a few weeks on other threads for those who can read between the lines. Adam is a Sunderland lad, his dad is his agent and is a season ticket holder at the Stadium of Light. He's a top player with a massive future ahead of him. Big decision for Boro to make - if they cash in they will be risking promotion, if they don't cash in they're almost certain to lose him on a Bosman in the summer. If we do get him I'll be over-the-moon.

We've still got some dead-wood in our reserves - what do you need..? We'll pay you to take Daryl Murphy, Roy O'Donovan or Russell Anderson.

Quote:Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City chase CSKA Moscow winger Milos KrasicArsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City are weighing up a move for CSKA Moscow winger Milos Krasic. The Premier League trio were represented in the stands at Old Trafford on Tuesday night as the Serbia international impressed with the Russians' second goal in the 3-3 draw. Krasic, who is 25 and 6ft 1ins, has forged a reputation as an intelligent player with good pace and an eye for goal. He would not come cheap, valued at around £9million, but scouts are convinced he can adapt to the Premier League whether playing wide or in an attacking midfield role. Real Madrid and AC Milan made inquiries about him last year but CSKA then scared them off by demanding £18m. Manchester United have also had him watched. Liverpool, meanwhile, are also continuing to monitor Hamburg's highly-rated left winger Eljero Elia. The Dutch international only joined in the summer after moving from Twente Enschede for £7million. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1225295/Arsenal-Liverpool-Man-City-chase-CSKA-Moscow-winger-Milos-Krasic.html Cmon Arsenal a tall midfielder:lol:

afromanGT wrote:He's about A-League level :P In fairness to Daryl, he'd run rings around most of the A-league - might slow down a bit if Muscat got anywhere near him because he has a serious lack of bottle. Very much a CCC standard player. Wish he'd f*ck off there a.s.a.p.

He'll be available in January if we sign a single forward, he's just here for emergencies.
He (allegedly) turned down the move to Hull because they insisted on having a relegation wage cut clause in his contract and he didn't fancy their chances (with him being part of their plans, I don't blame him).
Again, at CCC level he's not a bad player - but in the EPL he's a liability.
Ironically, he probably scored our best goal of the last 3 seasons, last minute against Wigan - 30 yards into the top corner after an astounding pass by Andy Fatman Reid (before he was renamed Slim Andy Reid)
