Fulham swoop for Senderos

Fulham have completed the signing of former Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos on a three-year deal.

The Switzerland international moves to Craven Cottage on a free transfer after his deal with the Gunners expired and he was not offered fresh terms.

Senderos spent the second half of last season on loan with Everton and the entire previous campaign in Serie A with AC Milan.

The 25-year-old joined Arsenal from Servette in Switzerland in the summer of 2003 but was unable to establish himself as a regular in Arsene Wenger's first-team plans.

Senderos, who is currently in South Africa preparing for the World Cup with Switzerland, is relishing the chance to work under Cottagers boss Roy Hodgson.
Success

He told the club's official website: "I'm delighted to have finalised my transfer to Fulham earlier today and happy that I am joining the club during the most successful period in its history.

"I will be looking forward to meeting up with my new team-mates and of course, Roy Hodgson, a manager I respect very much, shortly after the World Cup.

"I very much hope that I can contribute over the next few seasons and that the club goes on to achieve more success."

Hodgson added: "Philippe is a player that I have admired for a very long time since he captained Switzerland to the UEFA Under-17 Championship in 2002.

"He is a strong defender who has great aerial presence at both ends of the field and has a superb work ethic which is a vital component for any team's success. I am very much looking forward to working with Philippe next season."

I reckon Swiss Phil will do well at Fulham, he is a confidence player who needs to play regularly to play well. He was excellent at the back for Arsenal a few years back when Kolo & Gallas were out injured regularly. I reckon he will surprise a few people and be a very handy addition for Fulham.

I've heard a few murmurs around that Joe Cole has signed a 3 year deal worth 80k a week at Arsenal. Apparently it's been kept under wraps and not confirmed until after he's passed a full medical when he gets back from the WC. He's already passed a basic medical but Wenger apparently with his injury past wants Cole to pass a more stringent full medical.

If it's true, even though it's only rumours atm, I hope it does come off because Joe Cole would be a quality signing. Even though we've got an abundance of players like Joe Cole in the team we have none with his experience in terms of years playing but also winning which will help rub off on the younger guys in the squad. We've got Campbell at the back with that experience Chamakh with that upfront and now hopefully Cole in the middle.

Robinho tempted by Turkey

Robinho has admitted he would be prepared to consider a shock switch to Turkish side Besiktas.

The Brazil international is currently away on World Cup duty, but has domestic issues still hanging over him.

He spent the second half of last season back in his homeland on loan at former employers Santos, having been deemed surplus to requirements at Manchester City.

Robinho has regularly expressed a desire to secure a permanent return to his roots, with it apparent that his time at Eastlands is coming to a close.

Having struggled to make the desired impact in England following a record-breaking move in 2008, the Samba star is keen to reignite his career elsewhere.
Desire

Talk of a switch to Spain, where he turned out for Real Madrid prior to joining City has been touted, with Barcelona said to be keen.

Few expected a Turkish outfit to race to the front of the queue to land his signature, but Besiktas are now well-placed among the frontrunners.

Former Real boss Schuster, who worked with Robinho at the Bernabeu, has expressed a desire in bringing in the Brazilian, well aware of the ability he boasts.

Rather surprisingly, Robinho has now admitted that he could be tempted to take up such an offer, having enjoyed working under the German coach during his time in the Spanish capital.

"If Schuster is there, I could go too," he said.

Makelele to finish with PSG

Claude Makelele has agreed to play one final season with Paris St Germain to end his career with a Ligue 1 title.

The former French international had been the subject of speculation regarding his future after failing to agree new terms at the Parc des Princes, however the 37-year-old veteran had announced he will play on for one more year.

Despite his age, the former Real Madrid and Chelsea man played 31 times for PSG last season, also helping his team to victory in the French Cup.

After much speculation over his future, Makelele insisted he was happy to stay with the capital club, highlighting coach Antoine Kombouare and owner Robin Leproux as key reasons behind his decision.

"I'm relieved, because I believe in this club," Makelele told Canal Plus.

"There will be some important recruitment and the target is interesting - to make this an important club again in France.

"I share the ambitions of the coach and the club."

Quaresma moves to Besiktas

Inter Milan winger Ricardo Quaresma has ended his disappointing stint in Italy by joining Turkish outfit Besiktas.

Quaresma was a big-money recruit from Porto two years ago, but the 26-year-old struggled to make an impact under Jose Mourinho.

He made just 32 appearances during two seasons with the European champions, scoring only once for the Nerazzurri.

The Portugal international also spent the second half of the 2008/09 season on loan at Chelsea, but again struggled to impress as he featured just four times in the Premier League.

His lack of action for Inter during the past campaign scuppered any chance of Quaresma making Portugal's World Cup squad and he has now accepted a move to Turkey.

Besiktas, who have also been linked with a move for Brazilian attacker Robinho, have paid around £6million to sign Quaresma, who had three years remaining on his Inter contract.

Quaresma also becomes new Besiktas coach Bernd Schuster's first signing since he took charge of the club last week.

Zoran Tosic to CSKA on a five year deal for an undisclosed fee. Not really phased by that as he never had the opportunity to make an impact for us.

An interesting rumour that has got me excited is Madrid offering Benzema to us in a swap deal for Vidic, it seems Vidic is pretty keen on a move to sunny Spain so this isn't impossible and Fergie rates Benzema highly. If we could pull this off and snap up Kjaer than that would be great business

I think he'll probably do a decent job in the SPL, he can cut it in the CCC, but at EPL level he's shocking. Great ability but you never really get the feeling that he believes in himself.

The rumoured fee is around 1.6m quid, if so, we should snap their hands off.

I don't recall Daryl ever being touted as anything special. Mick McCarthy picked him up for pocket change, he was a competent forward in the CCC promotion seasons under Mick and later under Keano, but never shone particularly brightly, he's been on the edge of the Irish national squad, in and out, for a few years, and he has lovely highlights in his hair. That's about it.

Mascherano drops Inter hint

Liverpool star Javier Mascherano has hinted he would be interested in a move to be reunited with Rafa Benitez at Inter Milan.

Mascherano is believed to be one of Benitez's top targets as the former Liverpool boss prepares for life in Italy.

Argentine ace Mascherano admits he would consider a move to Inter if Benitez came calling for him describing the Spanish coach as his 'teacher.'

"Me to Inter? Ask Benitez. He is the one who knows more," said Mascherano

"Rafa is my teacher. I learned so much from him since I came to play in Europe.

"I am learning Italian, but I don't know anything about Inter. Does Benitez want me? You should ask him as he would know more than me."

Talks

Mascherano's Italian agent, Marco Piccioli indicated a move is close as he has held talks with Inter.
"There has already been a first contact with (Inter sporting director) Marco Branca," said Piccioli.

"We are evaluating the move hard and in the next few days we will have a new meeting to better establish the details of this transfer deal."

Zlatan's agent wants talks

Zlatan Ibrahimovic's agent wants talks with Barcelona's new president Sandro Rosell over the player's future.

The 28-year-old Swedish striker has not set Camp Nou alight in his first season in Spain, following a big-money move from Inter Milan.
And with David Villa moving to the club, he could see himself fall out of the side next term in the Primera Division.

Speculation has mounted regarding transfer interest from Premier League outfit Manchester City and Italian side AC Milan.
Ibrahimovic is thought to favour a move to the Rossoneri over a switch to City, because of the lure of UEFA Champions League football.

His agent Mino Raiola wants to get the ball rolling and sort out the forward's future, although he expects it will be a long summer.

He said: "I want to advance this subject soon but I think that this summer it will be very long for the operations."

Rosell has recently taken over from Joan Laporta as Barca president, and Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas is thought to be his number one target.

Silva tempted by Chelsea

David Silva admits the Premier League is 'the place to be' and has opened the door for a move to Chelsea.

The Valencia winger is currently away on World Cup duty, with Spain's quest for global glory dominating his thoughts at present.

He has, however, taken time out to discuss his future, with reports continuing to suggest that he is destined to leave Los Che this summer.

A switch to England has been widely touted, with Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City all believed to be keen.

Silva has now revealed that he would be willing to make such a move, but has implied that he would rather try his luck in West London than the North West.

Pleasure

He said, in comments reported by the Daily Star: "Chelsea have established themselves as one of the best clubs in Europe over the last five years.

"They might not have the history of Real Madrid or AC Milan but they are creating their own history now. There is no reason why in the future Chelsea can't be as decorated as Real Madrid.

"Chelsea probably have, along with Barcelona, the best squad in football and if any player joins Chelsea he knows he is going to win things.

"In players like John Terry, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba they have players who would get into any team in the world and it would be a pleasure to play with them.

"There is no doubt in my mind that Chelsea would be a great club to play for - and a club where I could fulfil my ambition of league titles and the European Cup.

"The Premier League is still the place to be, no other league in the world has six or seven Champions League quality teams."
