Quote: Pana pick up Govou Panathinaikos have completed the signing of French international Sidney Govou. Govou has signed a two-year deal at the Greek champions after leaving Lyon at the end of last season. A number of Premier League clubs had been linked with Govou, with West Ham reported to have made an offer for the winger. However, Panathinaikos have managed to lure the 31-year-old to Greece and he will boost their squad as they prepare for the UEFA Champions League next season. Govou will link up with France team-mate Djibril Cisse at Panathinaikos and they could be joined by Les Bleus ace William Gallas, who is also available on a free transfer. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12875_6243484,00.html

Quote: Pool consider Butt move Skysports.com understands Blackpool are considering a surprise move for former Newcastle star Nicky Butt. Butt is currently considering his options after leaving Newcastle at the end of last season following the expiration of his contract. It has been reported the 35-year-old is considering hanging up his boots and moving into coaching, but Blackpool are hoping to lure him to Bloomfield Road. Ipswich and Preston have both been credited with an interest in the former Manchester United midfielder and now Blackpool are keen to land the ex-England international. Blackpool boss Ian Holloway is looking to bolster his squad and he sees Butt's experience as a key addition to his side as they plan for life in the Premier League next term. Butt is expected to make a decision on his future soon, but he could be tempted to have one last swansong in the Premier League if Blackpool follow up their interest. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12876_6243296,00.html Edited by sydneycroatia58: 4/7/2010 12:25:08 AM

Quote: Donovan cools Prem links Former club Everton and big-spending Manchester City have been linked with a move for the LA Galaxy forward during this summer's transfer window. Donovan enjoyed an impressive six-week loan spell at Everton last season and the Toffees have never hidden their desire to bring the 28-year-old back to Goodison Park. City are also thought to be monitoring Donovan's situation and are ready to battle Everton for his services if he becomes available. Donovan, who has only recently returned to LA Galaxy after his World Cup exploits with the USA, says he is happy to be in America, but has refused to rule out a move back to England. "Right now I want to be in America," said Donovan. "I absolutely love being here and I love getting back to my team-mates. "As you know I never say never to anything and right now rumours are rumours. "And if there is something serious to look at then I will, but for now I am very excited to be home." http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12876_6243206,00.html

Quote: Inter wait on Mascherano Inter Milan sports director Marco Branca has seemingly dismissed the suggestion that the club would need to sell in order to buy Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano. The Argentina captain, who is preparing for Saturday's World Cup quarter-final against Germany, seems set to leave Anfield and he has been persistently linked with the European champions. Mascherano's arrival at Inter has increased in probability after the Italians appointed former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez as their new boss earlier in the summer as a successor to Jose Mourinho. It has, though, been speculated that Benitez would have to sell members of his squad in order to raise funds to meet the asking price of the defensive midfielder. But Branca has played down these reports, telling La Gazzetta dello Sport when quizzed on the subject: "It is not said that someone will leave. "We are waiting in a long market with long negotiations. Without a serious offer (for a member of the Inter squad), we will stay as we are." http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12876_6243425,00.html

Quote: City linked with Balotelli The agent of Mario Balotelli claims that Manchester City have shown an interest in the Inter Milan striker. Arsenal and Real Madrid, who are now managed by former Inter boss Jose Mourinho, are among a number of European clubs to have been linked with the 19-year-old over the summer. Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti said at the end of June that he did not want to sell £28million-rated Balotelli, but the Italy Under 21 international has yet to state his commitment and has admitted to being flattered by rumours regarding Arsenal. However, if Arsene Wenger is planning to make an offer for Balotelli he could struggle to compete with the financial muscle of City and the attraction for the forward of a reunion with Roberto Mancini, the man who gave him his Serie A debut. Balotelli's representative, Mino Raiola, told Sky Italia: "There is interest from Manchester City, but certainly this is not the only team that thinks seriously about Mario Balotelli. "I don't want to say that an offer is coming. I'd rather not talk about figures, it is a decision of president Massimo Moratti." Inter sports director Marco Branca has maintained the party line of Rafa Benitez's club by insisting that Balotelli is not for sale. Asked about speculation of a €40million (£33m) offer from an unnamed club, Branca told La Gazzetta dello Sport: "He is not for sale so there are no discussions." http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12876_6243356,00.html Edited by sydneycroatia58: 4/7/2010 12:36:33 AM

Quote: Manchester United Target Luis Fabiano In Sevilla U-Turn Luis Fabiano has had a change of heart over his club future following Brazil's World Cup exit, claiming he wants to stay with Sevilla rather than join Milan. Rossoneri supremo Adriano Galliani said the club were stitching a plan together for Fabiano last week, and then claimed he "hoped to see" the striker play at San Siro. But Fabiano has turned the tables and his words suggest there is little prospect of a move to Milan. "There will be time to think about everything. The [Sevilla] president knows my desires," he told ABC, as reported by Tuttomercatoweb.com. "I spoke with him and the sporting director and told them I would like to stay at Sevilla." "I know there has been talk about me wanting to play for another club, but I told the president that this was not true. "I never said anything like this." http://www.goal.com/en/news/11/transfer-zone/2010/07/03/2008057/manchester-united-target-luis-fabiano-in-sevilla-u-turn

Quote: Tottenham Manager Harry Redknapp Targets £7M Craig Bellamy From Manchester City - Report City have embarked on another spending spree this summer, splashing out to sign Jerome Boateng, David Silva and Yaya Toure, and it is expected that there will be more to come before the Premier League season begins again in mid-August. Quote: Suarez eyes United move Uruguay World Cup star Luis Suarez admits he could be tempted to leave Ajax if Manchester United come calling. The 23-year-old striker, who was sent off during Uruguay's quarter-final encounter against Ghana due to his controversial handball, scored a massive 49 goals in 48 games for the Dutch club last season. But despite being happy at Ajax, Suarezsays an offer from a high-profile club such as United could sway him towards a move. "Manchester United and Barcelona are the elite clubs in Europe," Suarez told the Daily Star Sunday. "If they call, you listen. I would only leave Ajax for a team in that category." Suarez is eligible to play in the World Cup final should Uruguay win their last-four match after being handed a one-match ban by Fifa on Saturday. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12876_6244197,00.html

Quote: Redknapp impressed by Forlan Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has admitted his interest in Uruguay and Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan. The former Manchester United forward has enjoyed an excellent World Cup and is a key reason why the South Americans have reached the semi-finals in South Africa. Forlan and strike partner Luis Suarez have both been linked with Premier League moves following their performances this summer. And Redknapp is among those following Uruguay's progress with interest, but he fears that Forlan's salary would be a stumbling block for any move. "I like the look of the Uruguayans," Redknapp is quoted as saying in the Sunday Express. "I think Forlan would have another two or three good years in the Premier League, but his wages could be a problem." http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12876_6244245,00.html

Quote: Blues target Ramires Chelsea have expressed interest in bringing Brazilian midfielder Ramires to Stamford Bridge, according to the player's agent. Benfica star Ramires, who has four years left on his contract with the Portuguese club, played four games for Brazil at the World Cup but was absent from their quarter-final defeat to Holland due to suspension. The player's agent, Luis Carlini, says both the Blues and Bayern Munich have made enquiries about the 23-year-old midfielder. "Many clubs from the big European leagues have been in contact about Ramires," Carlini told the News of the World. "Chelsea and Bayern have spoken to Benfica, but I can't say more." Ramires, who joined Benfica last summer for £6.5million, admits he could be tempted by an offer from a high-profile club, but insists the decision lies with the Lisbon outfit. "I came to Europe to win championships," he said. "It is normal that I would look at any offers from clubs in bigger leagues but I am currently under contract and Benfica will have the final say." http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12876_6244240,00.html

Quote: OFFICIAL: Manchester City Striker Valeri Bojinov Joins Parma Manchester City striker Valeri Bojinov has joined Serie A side Parma for a fee of around £5 million. The 24-year-old spent last season on-loan at Ducali after featuring just 12 times in all competitions for City. Bojinov signed for the Premier League side in May 2007 from Fiorentina after an impressive loan spell with Juventus. The Bulgaria international had a nightmare start to his career at Eastlands when he suffered a knee ligament injury in a defeat to Manchester United that ruled him out for five months. Bojinov scored just one goal for the club and was allowed to join Parma last summer on a year-long loan deal. Sevilla were believed to be among several Spanish sides chasing the striker but Parma president Tommaso Ghirardi has now confirmed he has completed a permanent switch back to the Stadio Ennio Tardini. He told Sky Italia: "I am very happy to announce the successful outcome of a deal that we have been pursuing since last January. "I am happy. It is a deal that we have been taking forward since January. Over time, the price went up and down. The documents arrived today. We will announce all the details at a press conference on Wednesday. Moutinho was captain at Sporting but has opted to move on to pastures new, in a deal worth £9.1m. He has signed a five-year contract at Estadio do Dragao, while defender Nuno Andre Coelho, 24, moves the other way on a deal until 2014. Quote: Deco negotiating Blues release Chelsea midfielder Deco has already agreed personal terms with Fluminense, according to the president of the group that owns the Brazilian club. The Brazil-born Portugal international has long been expected to leave Stamford Bridge and he said in the last domestic season that he wanted to return to South America. That could soon become reality as Fluminense claim that discussions with Deco have reached a positive conclusion and that all that is left to address is a deal with Chelsea and the 32-year-old's medical. "As Deco himself said, the deal is well under way," said Celso Barros, the president of the group which owns Fluminense, a club based in Rio de Janeiro. Medical tests "It depends only on him being released by Chelsea and passing the medical tests, because the salary and length of contract have already been agreed. "We will not talk this Wednesday, but in principle Deco will go to London to try to expedite his release with Chelsea. "That done, he has asked Fluminense for at least a week to be with his children in Brazil and then he will report for medical tests and to start training." Deco developed his career in Europe after struggling to make the grade as a teenager in Brazil, and starred for both Porto and Barcelona before moving to Chelsea in 2008. Born and raised in the state of Sao Paulo, he represented Portugal after moving to the country and gaining citizenship, but retired from international football following their exit from this summer's World Cup. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12874_6245241,00.html

Quote: Black Cats keen on N'Zogbia Sunderland have made an enquiry about Wigan winger Charles N'Zogbia, according to Sky Sources. The Frenchman's future has been under speculation this summer, with the Latics having already turned down an offer from Birmingham City. And N'Zogbia has now reportedly attracted interest from the Black Cats, whose manager Steve Bruce brought the 24-year-old to Wigan from Newcastle during his reign at the DW Stadium. N'Zogbia, who has also been linked with a move to Serie A giants Juventus, scored five goals in 36 league games for the Latics last season. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12876_6245245,00.html

Quote: Koscielny arrives at Arsenal Arsenal have completed the signing of defender Laurent Koscielny from Lorient for an undisclosed fee. The centre-back, 24, has agreed a 'long-term contract', but the Gunners have not revealed the exact length of the deal. Manager Arsene Wenger had wanted to reinforce his defence after Arsenal faded in the last season's Premier League title race. With William Gallas and Sol Campbell also becoming free agents, Koscielny was identified as the ideal replacement and his new boss has described him as a 'fighter'. Wenger told Arsenal's official website: "Koscielny is a central defender with great ability who performed extremely well last season for Lorient. "We identified him as a very strong centre-half, who has made big progress very quickly. Mentally strong "He has shown he is mentally strong, he's a fighter and a very strong competitor. Koscielny is a great addition to our squad." Koscielny said: "I'm very excited to be joining Arsenal. They are one of the biggest teams in Europe with many great players. "I'm really looking forward to playing in the English Premier League and the Champions League with my new club. "Also, in Arsene Wenger, Arsenal have one of the best managers in the world and I can't wait to work with him and do my best for the Arsenal supporters." Although born in France, uncapped Koscielny, who helped Lorient to seventh place in Ligue 1 last season, would also qualify to represent Poland as a result of his family roots. Koscielny, who will wear the number 6 shirt, is scheduled to make his first appearance at Emirates Stadium over the weekend of 31st July and 1st August, when Arsenal compete with AC Milan, Celtic and Lyon for the Emirates Cup 2010. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12875_6250913,00.html

Sol Campbell in talks with Steve Bruce. Not sure what I think of this. Sol was a class player, but I feel that last season was a bit of a swan-song, a last effort at the top level, I'm not sure he'd be able to perform at that level in a less effective side, a long way from home.
Meanwhile... Homesick Lorik Cana is on his way out - a 5 million quid move to Galatasaray, a chance to be closer to home and play in the Champions League too much to turn down. Lorik was fantastic for us in the first half of last season, but he did give away a few too many freekicks and picked up too many yellows - didn't score enough either. Still, a big hole to fill in the middle.
Dan Gosling is available on a free transfer and my lads, plus Newcastle and West Ham are all keen on him. Everton stuffed up their paperwork and as a result are going to miss out on $millions in compensation when he signs for another club.

Wolfsburg have signed Palermo defender Simon Kjaer for 12 million pounds which is a worthless move for him imo as he have moved to a ECL contesting club. Thomas Muller will be given a pay raise to tempt him to stay with Bayern Munich. I read that apparently Bayern valued him at 8 mil before the WC but now want at least three times that. I would have signed him for 8 mil in a heart beat even before his WC performances, he had an incredible season last year. The rumours of us chasing Sneijder are jizz worthy but pointless, Im pissed off because I wanted us to sign him after Madrid brought Ronaldo as we were apparently allowed prefference of their player sales and a player of his abilities is the missing link in our squad. The Benzema rumours have been consistent though so this gives me hope as I love this player and would love for him to be partnering Rooney

Quote: Sneijder's heart is with Inter Holland's World Cup finalist Wesley Sneijder has told Inter Milan that he has no intention of leaving the Giuseppe Meazza this summer. Reports have emerged that Manchester United are planning a £29million offer for the classy playmaker after he helped Inter to the treble trophy success of the UEFA Champions League, Serie A and Coppa Italia last season. But as he prepares for Sunday's World Cup final against Spain, Sneijder insists that he is fully committed to the Italians and has seemingly crushed Sir Alex Ferguson's hopes of luring the 26-year-old to Old Trafford. The Dutchman, who joined Inter in the August of 2009 having failed to make the grade at Real Madrid, said: "I am staying. I will play for Inter Milan next season. "My heart is in Milan. With Inter, I won everything last season and there's a lot more to win, like the European Super Cup, Italian Super Cup and the World Club Cup, which are all great trophies." Sneijder is aware of Manchester United's interest, but Inter president Massimo Moratti told the Italian press on Wednesday that the midfielder, the joint top-scorer at this summer's World Cup, was not for sale. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11667_6252243,00.html

Joe Cole has apparently rejected Liverpool in favour of Arsenal or Spurs because he wants to stay in London. Apparently we are the favourites with an offer of 115,000 per week. The wage is the only thing that puts me off means he will be earning the same as Fabregas does which I just don't see happening tbh.
We have also been linked with Shaun Wright Phillips for about the 100th time in 5 years. He's linked with a 6m transfer to us because Man City want to get rid of him because of his wages. He'll always be linked with us because of his dad and that's what makes me take it with an extreme pinch of salt.
Serder Tasci the 23 year old Stuttgart defender currently with Germany in South Africa has expressed his interest in playing at Arsenal saying that he admires Wenger for what he has done and would favour a move to Arsenal.

Quote:Arsenal ‘set to pay £15m’ for Cahill after Kjaer snubArsenal may have secured the signing of Laurent Koscielny but the overhaul of their back four remains a work in progress. Unfortunately, Metro newspaper reports that the Gunners have failed in their bid to sign 21-year-old Simon Kjaer from Italian outfit Palermo, the young Danish defender preferring to join German club Wolfsburg instead. Allegedly, Kjaer began demanding too much money for Arsene Wenger's liking, a man known for being as tight as the Spanish defence, and so now the Gunners' boss has turned his attention back to Bolton defender Gary Cahill. The 24-year-old has been admired by Wenger for some time now and though Arsenal have reservations about forking out Bolton's asking price of £15m, the new season is just around the corner and the Gunners' defence is still as fragile as the England back-four. So Wenger is set to prise open his purse strings and give Bolton the money they want. http://www.thefirstpost.co.uk/65635,sport,football,transfer-talk-arsenal-set-to-pay-15m-for-gary-cahill-after-simon-kjaer-snub#ixzz0tAkUkolt
