Very sad to hear.
The moment I see any idiots like this at a game this season, will be reporting it straight away. Hopefully the club and FFA ban these guys.

So apparently it was a WS fan who was the one injured, not an SFC fan like first reported.

i love the wanderers but if anyone from the RBB started a fight they need to stay away from football, best wishes to anyone who was hurt no matter from which side i hope they recover fast, this is something we just dont need, nothing good can come out of this for anyone but i am more concerned about anyone that may be hurt

Oh God... A young kid, maybe 6, is also being treated at the ground. Hit in the head by a rock that was thrown during the fight #sydneyfc If its a WSW fan thats injured, I fully don't condone the actions but from everything that Ive read the RBB were the aggressors. Even as a Wanderer fan i will say i would deserve to get hit if i went to this game and tried to put shit on the fans from the Cove. If your there to watch the game thats all good but to go there and start shit against your rival club even though its not a game your team is playing in is just asking for trouble. Im just pissed off because i know the media will love to throw this one on the back page of the papers.

Seriously dont try justifying what you said. Your clearly saying that culture was the problem here and i know for a fact the culture you are talking about is the culture of different ethnic background which then falls into the race category. If you have these views then atleast admit it and dont talk shit or atleast explain exactly what the problem here is and why it started dont just say its thier culture but then deny it had anything to do with their background.

If I used the word cultured to describe a pearl does it mean it belongs to a race, religion or ethnic background? The answer is NO bozo... Initial post: Aussiesrus wrote:Erebus wrote:Alright people. No more bitching about player's nationalities. I don't want this thread to spiral into a racial debate. Now perhaps your starting to understand west sydney and it's culture. It is a melting pot of different cultures. For West Sydney to become effective and a force in the a-league they must overcome their differences. IE: Croatians and Serbians must put their differences aside and stand together as one under the Wanderers as does every other culture of west sydney.Popovic has the hardest job of any coach given the past history of west sydney's tribal nature of football that was created by a bunch idiots. Tribal football was a bad mistake of the past and has caused more division of cultures than anything. Poppa has to unite the cultures or it's doomed to fail. Trust what I say, i've lived in west sydney for over 50 years and been involved at just about every level as player, coach, manager and i've forgotten more about the politics of the west than most people on this forum even know. Every culture of the west wants a slice of the action and if one culture becomes shutout this will cause a ripple effect. Wish wanderers the best but myself and many others are no further convinced from day 1 until now things are changing for the better. With my ear to the ground i'm hearing its full steam ahead ignore the issues. So Erebus as much as you don't like the discussion to be about culture unfortunatley it is the number 1 hurdle for west sydney's success. From a whole planet of players to choose from a croatian coach chooses players from croatia without so much as a trial. This does not look good on it's own and why people are upset. The past issues are not dissappearing but re-manifesting themselves. This si their fears. Next post: Aussiesrus wrote:Erebus wrote:You're preaching to the choir.
But as a mod of 442, I don't want the WSW Official thread to be derailed into a debate about race/nationalities etc.
If everyone wants to debate and state the obvious in what WSW has to do to become successful, by all means, create a new thread so we can go around in circles for the one hundredth time. And the choir is singing but who is listening and who is being shutout? Understand from your mod point of view. The culture of wanderers is not a side issue. It's a "core" issue vital to it's success. Wanderers staff say this many times in their public interviews. If a new thread was created then going around in circles for the 100th time is precisely what will happen until the issue is addressed by wanderers. If it is obvious as you say then why is it still happening? If the blind can see it and the deaf can hear it does that mean the mute cannot speak of it? Public debate requires all sides of the coin to be seriously looked at and debated. If this topic is just a hype and bullshit tool for wanderers fans to "officially" blow cherries up each others arse then have fun. It's of no "official" value. Third post: Aussiesrus wrote:macktheknife wrote:I'm sure we'll have fun without you :^o And I without you and your issues  Don't worry about me young wetback. You tell me that third post isn't without the first two in mind - with the discussion about culture stemming from race/nationality.

That crowd violence and injury to the child is extremely disappointing news, but it's good to hear that both clubs, supporters groups and co are onto it fast. Maybe the positive spin, if there can be one, is atleast with it happening early and early in pre-season and the life of the club, it means the club and the RBB supporter group can seek to organise sort this out early in the club's life, well before the A-League season gets up and running and so 'reputation' won't be too harmed and indeed can continue to improve as the club and the supporter group improves in this area. And let's not pick on West Sydney or what not - It's ofcourse been a historic problem in the game, NSL or what not, Melbourne aswell as Sydney and what not and we well know the negative wider perceptions of the game that can be re-inforced by such scenes. So for all 'real supporters' they certainly do not condone this and as RBB said and I'm sure The Cove and the rest too, they seek what's best for the game as all others who support the A-League do. All A-League supporters are stakeholders in the league and the Wanderers fans especially, in this early period, especially given the surrounding uncertainty of recent A-League past, Fury and GCU gone, GFC/Economy/Lack of Investors these days, the Wanderers fans would feel even more so I presume. Such incidents only undermine this fledgling club who's just starting to get a foothold and seeking to get it's name out there, to build it's reputation and the Wanderers fans well know, seek as much to promote and uplift the club in this regard as much anyone. Aussiesrus wrote:RedKat wrote:sydneycroatia58 wrote:RedKat wrote:Good signings from NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Croatian Wanderers. Nice to see another young visa player
Surely sydcro you can see why people have a problem with this? Even if you dont agree.
Edited by RedKat: 13/8/2012 12:43:05 PM No actually I don't see why anyone has a problem with it. No one seems to have a problem with 6 Anglo players in the squad, and rightly so, so why is 3 Croatian players, 1 of which is Australian, a problem? Its more the idea that this club was meant to be for all the west, which it still is. Thing is with having 5-6 or however many people in the club with Croatian heritage and no Greek, Italians etc, it gives the club a Croatian image. If we turned the tables and the club had 5-6 Serbians and no Croats, you might understand. Im not saying its a croatian club just that there is a possibility it might deter some people because of the croatian image. But regardless as I said they both look like good signing and very interested to see how Poljak goes in this new wave of younger imports How many serbians are in the wanderers considering bonnyrigg white eagles (serbian club) have taken the NSWPL by storm and owned the NSWPL league this season and also Robbie Younis from BWE is the NSWPL top goal scorer... Nobody have a problem with that? Of course we all know there are no problems with cro's and serbs. That's why ALL Sydney United (cro) V Bonnyrigg white eagles (serb) are closed to the general public. Serbs are australians and have a proud west sydney footballing heritage as well!! Considering we are in asia and getting flogged by the japanese aren't there any asian lads worth a look? Dear me...What could be happening to west sydney hajduk wanderers?? Players signed by West Sydney so far - 15 out of 23 spots, which includes just 2 out of the maximum 5 allocated VISA spots filled so far. Some people are just plain over-reacting. Also note - Wanderers and Poppa are forming a team at shorter notice, in a shorter timeframe and as time ticks, less of a pre-season to prepare, gel, a full squad with matches etc... than their A-League rivals for this upcoming season. And while some start up A-League clubs in the past have been quicker to assemble squads, including late start ups like Phoenix, Poppa and co seem to insist on due diligence, trialling and what not and that seems based on experience with other A-League clubs, including Sydney FC - who do similarly these days with their VISA boys especially. Also, just to be more boring - Poppa and co, while, yes, part of their mantra is to appeal to the fans/base, including 'a squad of local players, local state league boys etc' and 'play attractive, attacking football' the reality is that for the club to have more cut-through in their early days, they will need to see 'some level' of success, and certainly early on, atleast to be competitive, challenging Top 6 even, rather than cellar dwellars. So ofcourse this will see Poppa and co signing 'Aussies who aren't West Sydney products' like Nikolai T-S, and 'A-League rejects' (As all the A-League expansion clubs have done), and too the best VISA players possible, within budget. So this means only so many opportunities for State league boys, and those who have eventually been signed. And with VISA players it can mean players who Poppa feels he knows best, from his limited coaching career so far - Including, as he said of these two, players he's already scouted, been following for a while - presumably even via his time with Palace? And while Poppa and co have been keen on due diligence, combing over via trial etc... they well know they only have a couple months till season start now and the sooner they get the squad together the better. And with VISA boys, it's well known that most take half a season to click into gear in this league, heck same even applies for the returning Aussies Abroad, even Kewell, so for VISA boys he may well feel - better to get these 'pre-scouted/known commodity' boys in sooner and get as much pre-season as possible in, rather than delay further through additional weeks of trialling where it's already mid-late August and that just isn't practical at this later stage of pre-season. So again - 8 more squad places including 3 more VISA spots to fill. And, ontop of that, a whole NYL squad too, some of whom will surely feature for the Wanderers senior side during the season. Ah well, I guess it just shows the level of anticipation for the side, with people getting so carried away with just barely 15 players or only half a squad signed.

United penalty and it's saved by Tyson, but the referee orders a re-take which is put away to make it 2-1 United.
