i MOTSED today and plannin on PICing the cup game so im expecting to lose it. If it was important to me I would go for it but its not worth risking league standings

Some light reading:


Its a game where basically you play twice a week in a league game as well as friendly/cup game. When you start you get assigned a team in a league with 18 or so pretty bad players.



Basically there are 6 Divisions and there is like 1200 Leagues in div 6, 600 in div 5, etc etc
Dont know exact numbers
8 teams are in each league, and the top team has a chance to auto promote or play a qualification match (Depending how they are ranked among other league leaers in their division) and the bottom two auto relegate with the 5-6th teams playing a relegation playoff.


Your players have 8 skills:
Stamina- Useful for all players. The higher this is, the less skill will be lost towards the end of the match due to fatigue.
Goalkeeping - Useful for only GKs of course.
Playmaking: Most important for your Inner Mids but useful for anybody on the park, excluding GK.
Passing: Useful for all players, really helps in creating chances.
Winger: Useful for Wingers, Wing Backs and a little for Forwards as well
Defending: Most important for defenders but helps to have your Mids with this skill as well as your GK.
Scoring: Most important for Forwards, helpful for Wingers and IMS to have it.
Set Pieces: Important for all players. Try to have at least 3 good set piece takers.

The skills are ranked as follows

Non-existant
Disastrous
Wretched
Poor
Weak
Inadequate
Passable
Solid
Excellent
Formidable

Your arena size is also important If you are regularly selling out the stadium, increase your stadium size to generate more income per week.
Buying younger players is imperative. Buy 19-23 year olds and sell them off before they turn 27 so they dont decrease so much in value. Having a good coach is also important but its up to you whether you want to do that first or buy better players. I recommend buying a coach, getting a few young players of the same type (3 midfielders) and train them up and sell them for profit or keep them.

Hope that helps you when you start out.


Edit: Also, you have the option to start a youth academy when you start where you can train up younger players from age 15. Get that started straight away.

And 3 words you must always remember when playing this game

MIDFIELD IS KING!

If you win the midfield, you will win the game. Make sure your midfielders have the highest primary skill on your team. Never forget it. Midfield is king. If you have shit everything but good midfield you will win.

and an extra:
Transfer Listed players are all from teams currently existing.
It works as an auction, a player is Transfer Listed by a team and is put on the market, with a set deadline. The highest bidder when the deadline arrives wins the player.
If somebody bids in the last minute, it extends the deadline by 3 minutes.

cool we got so many new players recently. we should start the cup competition once imno gets knocked out of the oceania cup.

looking back since last month we only had 10 pagse dedicated to hattrick. and now its 50!!!

Yeah seems seems theres a few people signed up now, looking good, hey is there anyway that a "sticky" thread could be made that includes imnofreak's basic startup guide for the new players, along with maybe the names of all the current existing fourfourtwo assosciated hattrick teams, in case anyone would like to challenge for a friendly or something?

Just so its easier for the newbies to access the information and such.

Its not impossible if I play MOTS and get lucky (which I'm getting famous for :P), but I'll be running PIC, so nup, not going to happen.

It was reading through the first 30 or so pages that got me interested in this game, that and the idea of having a squad which you didn't have to start afresh with every season! Can't wait to get the crew together and start the slow, slow journey :)

Yeah. Its by no means a fast process. It will take many seasons to achieve greatness haha.
You dont need to put in hours a day though

OK almost finished the first list of managers liscence bar booking a friendly.

I have placed the players with the position that they have the strongest skills for (I hope! - pretty sure but I hate flash grrr), I have also upgraded my coach as the first thing I wanted to do and have got one with inadequate as opposed to weak training, who I will upgrade again asap to what ever the next level is!

This is going to be way to adictive - can't wait to start playing games!

You know all about the Cup we are likely to have in the next few weeks to? Would you be up for that?

Actually i ditched my mates to join you guys last season lol, we have our own cup with 20-30 odd teams, but it got boring tbh.

I really don't know whether or not I'm going to win this cup round, im playing against a better team(not by much), but going for a MOTS, so could pull off a upset or could fail epically.

You have a pretty tough team, Just checked him out though and it seems his best players are all out of form so you never know, you could get a win.

Im thinking about buying a older player for a week with high PM and high salary as cover for my injured midfielder, could give me the boost in ratings needed to beat my opponent.

I got kicked out of the cup last week against a fairly decent team when compared to my 2nd team. Ah i'll try harder next time.

Saint FC also still plays hattrick. (the everton supporter)
