not sure why Rockdale fans were queiet in fact the large crowd was pretty quiet
Edited by macedonia: 15/9/2013 09:28:08 PM richie has played that way most of the year and its worked. we play with three up front really. anyway agree wasnt a good quality grand final, we battled hard but came up with nothing. a few of bonos big boys stood up and that was the difference. was a decent crowd, a good day (result aside)- even if we had a long trip home! our fans turned out in good numbers which was pleasing, im sure had we scored we would of blwon the roof off the joint but wasnt to be. bring on 2014!

Heard Serb supporters had brang banners to the ground but everything was deemed to be Ethnic and confiscated by FNSW Officials.... saw the Active supporters arguing with Security and Police
If im honest Sunday was a very great day, woudnt mind Panthers stadium being permanent venue.... was 7-8 thousand in Attendance... entire grand stand was full

I don't think it's just an NPL issue, or even a soccer issue. Its the same all over australia, unless its a 'derby' the crowds are crap. nrl, afl, hal, all the same. once finals come along, a bit more interest, and like all the other popular sports, the finals are either sold out, or have a far inflated number, as people want to see the GF live, regardless of who's in it.
I think there would have been quite a few neutrals in the crowd, not going either way, yourself included there macedonia. i'm guessing you didn't go their purely to watch olympic and probably would have gone anyway?
And i guess the main reason these neutrals don't turn up to games is mentioned a few posts above. To have the serbs chanting racist things, the macos chanting racist things back, ethnic banners confiscated, etc, it's simply time to leave that stuff behind, wear your colours, bring colourful banners, sing, make noise, but leave the racial stuff behind.

Plus that sort of stuff is likely to keep the "so called" lovers of the club away, if they think they're going to be subject to racial abuse or potentially violence, it's not exactly a good look.

Probably not racist, but goes against what fnsw permits, ie, identifies with a foreign region, etc.

The only fanatical supporters you'll get to the ethnic clubs are people of that same ethnic background, unless the club makes a concerted effort to move away from the ethnic ties and rebrand, which it won't, as that is what the regular weekly supporters are. Sure there are supporters that aren't ethnic in any ethnic club, but I bet if u asked the 2 supporter groups what their backgrounds were, they'd all tell you either macedonian or Serbian. Good to see some decent searching points finally of wishing to gain more support. From the outside looking in here many times, I'm born here from Italian/Crow parents, naturally we grow up as aussies but the blood runs euro, not fanatical but blood is blood but I just can't stand the spoilers/wankers in the crowd from the ol nsl clubs - used to follow Apia back in the good ol days but once it got out of hand that was it it ruined being a supporter who just wanted to sit and watch a good game. Now having my own kids (first 2 football playing boys just as I still playing at 53) near on 21 13 I won't take them to any PL games what for, hence were SFC from its start, not a hassle or concern though mind you the new crowd are already getting up my goat, as mentioned thats a melting pot waiting to happen sadly ! I'd really like to revisit PL but not until they identify its time to get up with the modern world, new supporters don't want to be around unsettling scenarios whilst your watching a game of football - we are not like the origins of the past, the old timers are getting older where is the new breed of supporters coming from to watch these games and help it grow ? 2nd 3rd generation who behave as some of their relos of the past, seriously these clubs need to open their eyes minds for one day soon even local sponsers will dry up for lets face it their own business's one day sell off to new migrants who are not from the same kind possibly. Nowadays you need to offer extra value to entice new supporters - what actually do PL clubs do different from 10-20yrs ago ? the game or any for that matter needs to offer more just as any commodity in this day and age.

Until head office fixes the Premiere leauge especially in NSW , linking community clubs with the elite competition eg: top park soccer team play against PL1 and PL2 clubs to determine a champion, there is no link at the moment between park soccer and the Elite level .

Right. So why do people have issues with State League supporters but then praise the RBB/NT/Yarraside etc who cause a lot more problems? I'm glad you dont attend State League games. You sound more like the type who'd feel at home at the golf or tennis

Unsettling scenarios at NSWPL games? haven't been to many have you? The most unsettling scenario I've seen or been involved with at a NSWPL game in the last few years is when they ran out of Cevapi at King Tom last Sunday.

Let's not forget a few things though. Aside from a few signs that never made it into the stadium, there was absolutely no issues. No arrests, no fights, just people supporting their teams, or their to watch some decent standard football. And dring all of the previous rounds, this has not been an issue anywhere.
I'd prefer it stayed that way. It's just this season that we're starting to move on slowly from some of the indiscretions of the past and allow supporters. But that's only 2 games out of the whole season. 99% of the rest of it has no issue, and has had no issue for as long as anyone can remember.
Lets not shy away from the fact that the GF had a bumper crowd and was a generally enjoyable day for all, except for the scoreline for the rockdale supporters.

Was funny when the ground security tried to get the Rockdale kids with the flags at the front to sit down. Supporters nearby started putting it on the security shouting "leave the kids alone!" They left them alone.

I'm making judgements based on your first post:
1. I just can't stand the spoilers/wankers in the crowd from the ol nsl clubs 2. used to follow Apia back in the good ol days but once it got out of hand that was it it ruined being a supporter who just wanted to sit and watch a good game. 3. Now having my own kids (first 2 football playing boys just as I still playing at 53) near on 21 13 I won't take them to any PL games what for 4. (in regards to SFC) the new crowd are already getting up my goat 5.
I wont bother continuing.
Your post basically says "Something happened back in the day that I didn't like so I dont attend State League games anymore. Because of the past, I make assumptions about the present and dont take my kids to the games"
My judgement is based on your own post. I'd say the judgement is pretty spot on

Right. So why do people have issues with State League supporters but then praise the RBB/NT/Yarraside etc who cause a lot more problems? I'm glad you dont attend State League games. You sound more like the type who'd feel at home at the golf or tennis FYI and to sc58 - I never stated anything of recent PL games #-o I suppose my issue is with the past sc - I should revisit todays PL game, for the record I have no praise for the rbb/nt/yarraside, others may but I'm not with them. I'll disappoint you and attend some games next season, specifically yours :) I do play golf weekdays \:d/ tennis bores me nowadays but for the top shelf pros. Anyway back to proceedings I'm not out to rock any boat just put my POV across not out to be flamed over discussion. If you're not talking about recent PL games then why are you talking at all? So you're basing your entire stance on history? That's like me saying I wouldnt attend a Champions League game because of Heysel... or that I wouldnt attend an FA Cup game because of Hillsborough. There's no relevance If vocal crowds bother you then you can always attend Manly/Blacktown City/Blacktown Spartans games. People like yourself just look for excuses/justifications not to go to games. If you're not interest in State League that's fine, nobody says you have to go. But don't run around spreading bullshit to make yourself feel better about your apathy =d> - making judgement over 2 posts ridiculous but all to its own, so much for rational discussion  its 442 #-o LOL, you commenting on the current situation based on past experience (10-20 odd years ago) isn't ridiculous at all, right?

lol lol lol
What happened im curious
FUNNY but so true i was few rows above from it....... i believe it was a Rockdale supporter who got angry at the Serbs chanting "Ellas Ellas Makedonija" and the guy hit back with "Shiptari" chant Big Serb biker bloke confronted him..... stopped watching when i heard the Whistle blow So a group of idiots try and stir up trouble by invoking a Balkan dispute, get a Balkan insult in response and get offended? Was there even an IQ between them?
