disaster

this sums it up.

Sydney United 58 FC assistant coach Jerry Bilokapic conceded the performance was not up to the club's usual standard.

"The players need to look at themselves,'' he said.

There comes a point where the coach has to shoulder the blame. Its clear the players don't play for Rudan.

I can't remember a time when United has been routinely smashed by so many teams.

44 goals against would have to be a club record.

What teenagers is he referring to other than Camera and Zuvela? Both haven't been starters all season.

All credit to him for wining the Waratah Cup though.

"successful season"

Failing to make semis and regularly copping 4/5/6 goals (especially at home) cannot be considered a successful season even with the Warath Cup win. As a club, we should never be satisfied with taking home a Cup. Cups should just be a bonus for a club of our stature with the squad that we've assembled. Anything short of a top 2 finish should be considered a failed season and even that's being generous.

People forget that just 2 months ago we pumped Olympic 3-0 and were 2 points off top spot. There's nothing successful about what's happened since then.

I cant see us making the semis now so the only consolation now would be a deep run in the FFA Cup. The squad seems to be more capable of playing sudden-death football so hopefully that continues.

Blacktown City has the youngest and least experienced side in the top 5 by far.

Rudan has two former NSWPL players of the year at his disposal in C Triantis and Nikas. Former Aleague players/squaddies like Pasfield, Haydar, P Triantis, Mileski and Sherlock. Tomelic and Zuvela both in Sydney FCs youth squads off late and pushing for senior contract. At different stages, he has had NSWPL winners like Makrys, Giannaros and Cardozo in the 11. The list goes on. Its a top side. Say with a good coach like Bomber in charge, they'd be much higher.

You do know the average age of Blacktown City is at 20 & they field youngsters under that age aswell LOL

Wait so Cindric & Vrlic have been playing week in week out as Rudan is saying and the other 2 ? What a load of bs.

I find it hard to believe that Blacktown's squad has an average age of 20 even before they re-signed Major and Cairncross. Looking at their first grade squad, there isn't too many players under the age of 20.

As for us... Cindric has been in and out of the team throughout the year and Vrlic has made appearances here and there. Zuvela and Camera have been consistently in the first grade squad.

That's beside the point though, I cant be bothered looking but I'd be very surprised if other sides werent playing teenagers.

You would have probably won the league by now if you had lets say Tsekenis/Crittinden of a Bomber. FACT

What happens if Syd Utd get knocked out tonight, is this season viewed as a success for winning 2 low level cups but missing out on the finals, mind you, Syd Utd has probably had the biggest squad, depth isnt an issue with you guys it seems, but Rudan is a numpty, hence you had CT playing in defence.

I'm not disagreeing with you. See my earlier post - this season is a failure. A deep FFA Cup run will just be a consolation and we'll be left wondering what could have been.

The Waratah Cup is a big trophy, IMO, but it'll never make up for completely failing in the league.

Cros, what are your thoughts on this, obviously a win is a win but in that fashion imo is disgusting.
South Hobart would be the equivalent to a 2015 Marconi TBH.

Meh, we got through. We dominated but, as always, our leaky defence made things harder than they should have been.

I'm happier about the performances from Triantis, Bilic and Nikas more than anything. It was also good to see the side fight back from 2-0 down in that fashion, in the league this season we'd go on to cop another 2 or 3

No idea, doubt it was ever that big to begin with anyway. The cash is in the big ticket matches. If you draw SFC or WSW you're guaranteed a big payday. SFC we'd be looking at another 5k+ crowd while WSW you'd be looking at 10-12k easy.

At $20 a ticket, corporate boxes, canteen/drinks, sponsorship etc. You're looking at a windfall of a couple of hundred k. Easily dwarfs any potential prizemoney
