The AFL doesn't have internationals...

And no Soccer player knows how to bounce an oval ball correctly...what's your point.

They play gealic Internationals with Ireland and don't need a squashed ball

Exactly. They play a hybrid game internationally. Not AFL.

There's a lot of truth in that - although Dustin Fletcher was brillian one year - he's got a good height and build for goalkeeping too.

Isn't 'tagging' in AFL a reflection on the said tagger's lack of ability? I mean, if they were good enough wouldn't they be the one's being tagged?

Indeed. About as ridiculous as saying no AFL player knows how to Goalkeep. ;)

It's a bit different. Bouncing a ball is one set skill. Goalkeeping is a combination of many skills.

The point is, you can't just say "AFL players don't know how to do this". Of course they don't. They're playing a sport that doesn't require those skills. You can say that about any sportsman in the world, compared to any other number of sports they don't play.

Hundreds of matches are won by a CB scoring, with the striker doing fuck all in the same game.
What ball skills are required of a tagger?

No, that's in relation to any sport. You don't necessarily have to have good ball-handling skills to be successful in that sport. Take your monocle off.

Anyway, back on topic, GWS memberships for 2013 are now at 8,422 more than 2 months out from the start of the AFL season, and now looking very likely to overtake last year's figure of 10,241.

Howe is this 'back on topic'?
It would be back on topic if Wanderers and the various League teams memberships were mentioned as well. You seem to keep forgetting that part.

Obviously I would act if there was a complete consensus, but the signals have been mixed, one would have to admit.

wut

every time an australian goes well oversea's i am always proud of them no matter the sport unless i really dont like them as a person i always go for australians and hope they do well

AFL is kinda like a talent void, there is no doubt they are very talented people but imagine them if they went to international sports(not just talking about football) i remember the massive outcry last olympics after we did not do as well as expected in terms of medals if afl didnt exist then i am willing to bet that our medal tally would look healthier

that is the main problem i have with AFL it really lessens our success as a nation internationally, as a sport its something i can watch occasionally but that is the main reason i am anti afl and in australia we will pretty much support any australian who has talent at an international sport and is going oversea's so i am surprised more people dont think like i do but the sport itself i dont mind it can be very exciting when it is the last quarter and there are only a few goals in it
