I think the best thing about the VPL goal is it looks like he's doing a stupid celebration, and then you realise he's actually landed full on his crotch and is probably in a lot of pain

I'll update the list in the OP now (It'll take a little time, I know I'll get caught up and watch every goal ), but yeah, Free for all is declared. We don't have to stop at 64, Whatever the final number is, I'll either pad it out with some extras, or work out a way to make it fit.

I reckon we can find 16 more. That'll make 96. Then we'll do the first round as a Pick the best out of 3, which will get us down to 32. From there, normal H2H.

Falcao v Braga Not the most spectacular goal, but a nice ball over the top and a well controlled header to win the europa final for Porto. It was also a record breaking 17th goal in a single Europa league campaign

I'm willing to take a quick mini vote on this. I'm tallying up now, so it's up to you guys. While I do that, I'll also lay everything out to make sure everyone's happy. List will be Randomised. Round 1 will consist of Battles containing 3 Goals. Do you want to Vote for your favourite, or do a 3-2-1 vote? That'll leave us with 32 for Round 2. From there, it's simple H2H as per usual. Rounds last 24 or 48 hours? Just want some opinions on these quickly before I get started. Will hopefully have the first couple of Battles posted tonight if all goes well.

Remember. Please Vote 3-2-1 in each battle. That is, 3 Points, 2 Points, 1 Point. You get the drill.
Voting will close in approx 24 hours from now.
EDIT: And as always, I ask for some description of why you voted the way you did, just to attempt to keep the thread interesting and bring up discussion. Cheers.

Battle 1 -
Gourcuff - 3 Yoshida - 2 Stankovic - 1
Gourcuff's is just, well, exceptional :P Yoshida is a very nice strike, and I vote for it over Stankovic because even though it's a good hit, he kinda just throws a leg at it, doesn't have to beat the keeper either.
Battle 2 -
Figueroa - 3 Xabi - 2 Kaka - 1
Figgy was fantastic awareness and great technique to beat the keeper from there. Kaka was a good run, but an average finish, where Xabi showed great touch and composure to score from that far out. plays for Liverpool.
Battle 3-
Very tough one this. All good but no standouts from each other.
Lahm - 3 Ginola - 2 Nihat - 1

Battle 1: 3 points - Yoshida 2 points - Gourcuff 1 point - Stankovic Yoshida shows great situational awareness and brilliant touch to nail that. Stankovic just kind of stabs at it. Good touch but that's about all.
Battle 2: 3 points - Alonso 2 points - Figueroa 1 point - Kaka Alonso side-stepping the keeper like that is what made the goal memorable. Figueroa hit a gem of a strike but Alonso plays for Liverpool 8-[
Battle 3: 3 points - Lahm 2 points - Ginola 1 point - Nihat. Lahm was gypped not to get goal of the tournament for that strike. Ginola's effort was superb. German bias ftw.

Battle 1 3 - Yoshida 2 - Gourcuff 1 - Stankovic
Battle 2 3 - Figueroa 2 - kaka 1 - alonso Fig's strike was pretty awesome. Vision to see the keeper and then a hard flat strike to slot it home. Kaka's was a nice run, nothing too spectacular with the finish. Pretty unimpressed with Alonso's tbh.
Battle 3: 3 - Lahm 2 - Nihat 1 - Ginola Lahm's is one of my favourite all time goals, beautiful strike to open the 2006 WC. I tend to prefer Awesome strikes, over good runs, so Nihat gets 2.

Battle 1:
3- Gourcuff 2- Stankovic 1- Yoshida Just a simply brilliant goal by Gorucff, no other way to put it.
Battle 2: 3- Figueroa 2- Kaka 1- Alonso Great awareness from Figueroa, added plus is that its from a dead ball situation.
Battle 3: 3-Lahm 2-Nihat 1-Ginola Stunning finish by Lahm, the precision and curve on that hit :O

Battle 1
Yoshida-3 Stankovic-2 Gourcuff-1
Yoshida, wow, just wow absolutely brilliant. Don't really see much to that Gourcuff goal tbh.
Battle 2 Figueroa-3 Kaka-2 Alonso-1
Figueroa's shows brilliant technique and cleverness to drive it from there. And my man crush for Kaka is to big to give him one point. :P
Battle 3 Lahm-3 Ginola-2 Nihat-1 Lahm's was a great strike, Ginola's showed beatiful skill but Nihat's was a bit meh.

BATTLE 1
3 - Yoshida 2 - Gourcuff 1 - Stanko
Pretty simple, I fucking love acrobatic goals. And whilst Gourcuff's showed amazing composure, Yoshida had to back track and then time his jump/leap to perfection. Stanko's just a lucky shot. 8/10 times it fizzles out for a throw in or goal kick.
BATTLE 2
3 - Fig 2 - Kaka 1 - Alonso
What a strike by Fig. Couldn't have possibly hit it any better than that. To have the idea to belt a free kick in their own half is genius/crazy. Alonso's goal is overated I reckon. Open net and everything... (Inb4 Liverpool fans)
BATTLE 3
3 - Lahm 2 - Ginola 1 - Nihat
Fantastic curler by Lahm from not an easy angle.

3- Yoshida 2- Stankovic 1- Gorcuff Yoshida displays brilliant athleticism to do that. stankovic, well people say he just stabbed at it. But that's the best fucking stab I've seen. Gorcuff's is brilliant as well, but I like Dejan's more just for the audacity.
3- Figueroa 2- Alonso 1- Kaka Figueroa's is a beauty, the vision to spot that and then the execution, also note that Sorensen isn't that far out. Alonso's is a composed finish but tbf it's an open goal. Kaka's is a good goal, but the defending looked pretty average, lunging at it rather than trying to jockey him or stand him up.
3- Nihat 2- Ginola 1- Lahm Nihat's is brilliant, the dip and accuracy is incredible. Ginola's run is just brilliant, and then a nice finish to beat the keeper. Lahm's goal is also awesome, but not as good as the other two in my books.

Lahm - 3 Ginola - 2 Nihat - 1

battle 1 3 - gourcuff 2 - stankovic 1 - yoshida gourcuff's goal has been one of my favourites for a long time, absolutely brilliant stuff. the fact the it's a first-time hit makes stank's really, really awesome to me. yoshida's is cool and all, but the other two outshine his imo.
battle 2 3 - fig 2 - kaka 1 - xabi such awareness by fig - backed himself & still had to beat the keeper. there's not too many other places he could have hit it & it would have gone in from there. kaka for individual brilliance, he's an artist. xabi's was good that he backed himself and all, but it wasn't the sweetest hit.
battle 3 3 - lahm 2 - ginola 1 - nihat right footers cutting back in from the left is always going to get me, i love it! ginola just glides through the opposition, amazing stuff and very cool & calm finish. nihat hits it nice, but it's nothing THAT special imo - would have preferred for some awesome build-up play or something.

Just a few more hours till this first round closes. Can confirm that one battle is a dead heat between two goals, where as the other two are pretty much decided. YOUR VOTE COULD BE THE DECIDER!

Pirlo - 3 Carlos - 2 McFadden - 1 Carlos' goal is quality, but the 'Olympico goal' is an old party trick. Both Marco Pappa and Thierry Henry replicated it for NY this season. Pirlo's casual flick was spectacular.
Beckham - 3 Baggio - 2 Phillips - 1 Beckham's goal is one of the most memorable he ever scored. Baggio's touch in controlling that ball as he moved with the flight of it was pretty special though.
Best - 3 Gerrard - 2 Lucas -1 That goal was one of the best goals Best ever scored that was actually captured by cameras. Gerrard...well...Captain fantastic.

3- Pirlo 2- Carlos 1- McFadden Pirlo's strike is brilliant, I love how he just strolls on nonchalantly and then hits the top corner. Carlos's goal is quality, but he's helped by the keeper and the defender being off the line. Mc Fadden's is awesome as well...but you get the feeling the keeper could have done better.
3- Phillips 2- Beckham 1- Baggio Lovely long range volley from Phillps. Beckham's is genius, but he had the ball at his feet, whereas Phillips had take it as it came to him baggio's goal is great control but unspectacular apart from that.
3- Lucas 2- Gerrard 1- Best That Lucas goal is superb, to pick a ball out of the airline that is brilliant. Love the technique n Gerrard's one, the fact it's a half volley just shades it over Best for me.

battle 4 3 - mcfadden 2 - pirlo 1 - carlos a pure scottish goal. hoof it, don't mess around, whack it in. what i like about mcfadden's is that it catches the french by surprise, there's no time to even think. pirlo's is amazing because it's so casual. the defence are idiots for allowing any team that much space, but even when pirlo hits it, it doesn't seem like it's a shot. baggio's is good but i can't help but facepalm at the lack of defence/gk setup for it. the fact that his teammate jumps over it makes it a bit of a mockery goal imo.
battle 5 3 - baggio 2 - phillips 1 - becks dat ball, dat touch  absolute class by baggio. love the curl on phillip's goal, plus how he braces himself to hit it. becks's goal has had it's time in the limelight, give someone else a run.
battle 6 3 - best 2- lucas 1 - gerrard best with absolutely amazing class. reminded me heaps of viduka playing with the defenders like that. unreal. lucas's is brilliant - from the corner directly to him to him hitting the ball on the full volley while it's kind of curling away from him. gerrard's was unreal too, love the bounce-volley, but i think it's a bit "oh, another gerrard goal" for me - old news kinda stuff.

3 - Pirlo 2 - Carlos 1 -McFadden
3 - Baggio 2 - Kev 1 - Beckham Brilliant touch from a great ball.
3 - Best 2 - Lucas 1 - Gerrard Tough draw for the Lucas and Gerrard goals. I probably would have voted for them if they had been drawn in the other two battles. Best is just brilliant.

I have to agree re: Carlos. Yeah it's opportunistic, but where is the keeper or defending on the near post. That goal Doesn't do anything for me

Battle 4 3 Pirlo 2 McFadden 1 Carlos Carlos' effort is superb but for a man renowned for ridiculous spin no where near his best imo, whereas Pirlo's effort is just immaculate technique and placement.
Battle 5 3 Baggio 2 Beckham 1 Phillips Tough to go against such an iconic goal from Beckham but FFS that touch is just ridiculous from Baggio.
Battle 6 3 Best 2 Lucas 1 Gerrard Love seeing footage of Best with the ball at his feet running at the defence, one of the most naturally talented players to play the game and should have gone down as one of the greatest players of all time if he hadn't have fucked himself over so many times.

Battle 7:
3- Gerrard 2- Edmani 1- Gascgoine
Remember watching that FA cup final live, was a fucking tank performance by Stevie G that day.
Battle 8: 3- McGugan 2- Stankovic 1- Falcao
Loved that hit, power and curve.
Battle 9: 3- Frings 2- Gerrard 1- Seedorf Just a perfect hit from Frings, loved it at the time, love it now.

3 - Mcgugan 2 - Stankovic 1 - Falcao
Such a tough one... Stank and Mcgugan both incredible goals.....
3 - Gerrard 2 - Frings 1 - Seedorf
Three corkers... but Seedorf's was average keeping imo and Stevie... well, that is just phenomenal.

1-Edman 2-Gascoigne 3-Gerrard
Edman, Wow oh wow what a hit son, will be absolutely ridiculous if Gerrard gets in over him because of bias and the timing of it then I will be pissed.
3-McGugan 2-Stankovic 1- Falcao
O.O
3-Frings 2-Seedorf 1- Gerrard
Three remarkable goals, incredibly tight.

1 - Gerrard 2 - Edman 3 - Gascoigne
I really had a hard time trying to choose between Edman and Gerrard. Went down to the fact Gerrard hit it on the half volley, kept it so low, and also the importance of the goal. Must be said but, that run by Gazza was brilliant.
3 - McGugan 2 - Stankovic 1 - Falcao
Great ball into Falcao for his goal, but apart from that, its nothing. I have never seen a free kick hit so bloody well. Wow o wow McGugan.
3 - Frings 2 - Gerrard 1 - Seedorf
Gerrard's strike is brilliant + extra points for the Aussie in the vid. Frings strike is mental although the keeper could have done a little better.

battle 7 3 - gazza 2 - edman 1 - gerrard love gazza's goal. his run is world class, he basically mapped out that goal before it even happened. special flick & strike also. edman just beats gerrards for me, but i have no idea why.
battle 8 3 - stank 2 - mcgugan 1 - falcao stank wins purely because it featured a salmon header. falcao's isn't spectacular enough to beat dat hit from mcgugan.
battle 9 3 - seedorf 2 - gerrard 1 - frings all great hits. i really can't bring myself to give gerrard top spot, and frings was probably the least spectacular out of that bunch.

3- Edman 2- Gazza 1- Gerrard Edman's is a phenomonal hit. Gazza's shows great control and a nice finish, which just puts it ahead of Gerrard's.
3- Stankovic 2- McGugan 1- Falcao Mcgugan's is a sweet free kick, but Dejan's is better just for where he hits it from and the technique needed to do it.
3- Frings 2- Gerrard 1- Seedrof That frings strike kis one of my favourite goals ever. Gerrard's is a lesson in placement, whilst Seedorf is helped by some dodgy keeping.
