Edited by Joffa: 12/8/2013 09:50:38 PM surely the average would be double that? $200-300. aside from Newcastle. Maybe, I'm allowing for student and family memberships, but you may be right....still very positive

Ah yes, Joffa and co, good and important progress. I think for some of the slow coach clubs, it's finally clicking into gear the importance of having a larger member base. And while, yes, while this may be seen as a result of the growing popularity and wider growth indicators of the past couple seasons, it's ALSO, if not MORE, because of the clear work, effort or shift in focus of the clubs to improve this area. The little campaigns many of the clubs are running, with stated targets etc... Even some clubs revising membership packages and doing all-sorts to engage etc... It makes a difference. For instance, SFC stated around 3-4 seasons ago the need to improve their member base and as far as I can see, their member base has been on an upward growth curve ever since. These changes don't happen overnight and it's not ALL down to ADP, well clearly not - but efforts to get the word out there, make it more accessible and as you guys have said, Wanderers presence no doubt impacts. But still, to get people to sign on that dotted line - They WEREN'T doing it in the days of Dwight Yorke, Juninho or what not, but they are now. Same across the league! I spoke to memberships, the counter on the site is cached, so simply once on the page hit the refresh button on your browser to update the image. Now THAT is weird - That whole image/banner is NOT appearing when I view the site, well NOT when I'm on Firefox. I tried 'allowing' the whole page via noscript and still no cigar. Does anybody else use Firefox here, can they see the counter on the SFC page? Checked it out on Google Chrome and suddenly, viola, it's there! I can view the url to the image, directly, on Firefox though: http://static.ffa.sportalhosting.com/site/_content/advertising/00001539-image.png Edited by GloryPerth: 13/8/2013 04:00:36 AM

This total surely is a record number of total memberships for the a-league. It may also be a record average per club. Wont be long before nearing NRL

Has a lot to do with the Wanderers I think. Lots of excitement surrounding the Derby etc.

Terrific second post The thing is, all A-League websites are run by the FFA. It blows the mind to think Jets can't simply ping an email over to FFA and say, hey, pop a counter on the site like the others.......

Well done Heart! Tom AUFC wrote:I'd expect a decent spike in Brisbane's membership count due to Matt McKay returning. Mariners have done ok this far. I would hope Sydney's numbers pick up, especially with Carle returning for next season. You'd 'hope so' and it DOES seem to be 'the case' to some degree, but there's a mini-shit storm brewing on Roar's FB page, with the critical responses to Roar's latest update about it, 'Matty's back, are you?' Where the 'Top Comment'/Most liked is 'Too Expensive' by a Broncos fan who says she pays $185 for her Broncos membership. And another Top Comment from a Roar fan (Already a member) backed her up, via some research and found Roar are STILL amongst the most expensive in the league. Making him a little disappointed. The way the person managing Roar's official FB page could've handled the situation a bit better and the discussion rages on as we speak.TBH There isn't much the Roar FB page poster could do - Both concerns are more fundamental and may be need to be lessons for next season, if it's too late to implement any changes now. Roar are never growing to grow their base at this rate. And the 'negative spin cycle' of that discussion under-minding the whole latest update, is kind of embarrasses Roar - PR nightmare! The Bakries and Roar really need to find a way to both negotiate their tenancy agreement down to more realistic levels, to reduce that cost to the memberships but also, honestly, some degree of subsidisation from the club's/Bakries pockets to slash it by say, $40 to levels more like SFC and within $30 of the Broncos member pack. Maybe not to the degree of 'Tinkler at Jets' but a 'Mini-Tinkler like revolution' in this regard for Roar is clearly needed! And IF the Roar TRULY want 10k members, then they should again look no further than the 'smaller market' of Newcastle and the 10k on 10k members they have signed past two seasons and are set to hit again this season. In theory, IF Newcastle can get 10k members, then a Brisbane side/Roar should be able to get a good 12-13k! But 'in reality' they should STILL be able to reach 8k members or more, just like SFC! Your club shits me up the wall but id like to see a stadium with people in it when i watch you on the TV likewise mate :D. Yeah we've had a decent jump in the last few days, about 500 since the announcement of Engelaar. IMO this will have another significant spike closer to the season when we plaster Kewell's face everywhere. And just a comparison to last year we didn't hit 3650 till August 30th last year.

I'd expect a decent spike in Brisbane's membership count due to Matt McKay returning. Mariners have done ok this far. I would hope Sydney's numbers pick up, especially with Carle returning for next season.
