People bid conservatively at first trying to fill all 4 spots with decent players within the 5 day window. Once they realise that they can't get what they want and players start getting sold they fight for the scraps. It would have been far more uniform price/quality if either there was a flat time deadline by which all bids were sold or there was no waiting period after the first bid on a player before the count down to selling begain.
