Not true. That rule is only true in the January window - you can't pick a new player when we do the reverse draft.

He can choose to bid for whoever he wants -he just has to pick up 2 players in the auction as opposed to most others who only need one.

Stoked Lukaku went to Everton - he'll get way more games there and should net a few.

We'll re-open the auction at 7pm tonight. Same rules as last time except only 3 days + 12 hours to secure a player, not 5.

Phrased that poorly -

After the Jan window closes, we do a reverse ladder draft to all get 1 more player. Outside of that, if a player of yours was sold during Jan, you have to replace him too, but you CANT sign a player who was just transferred into the PL in Jan.

Ah I see. Seems a bit odd that he can select from players that weren't available to him at the time.

Maybe that is how we did it. I can't remember. But it does make sense that his Bale replacement should come from the pool of players available to him as of 16th September.

The only debate is as to whether that money can be spent on anyone or just on players that were available in the initial window.

This next window you'll have 6.5m + 5m from Bale to spend. You can spend that however you like .

But one of those players that you sign will have to be somebody who was already at a PL club - eg you can't sign Ozil and Eto'o - as they were both new signings. Whoever replaces Bale has to be someone who was available to you at the deadline of our first window (Sept 13 or whatever it was)

I think it should be on the initial window. He knew very well that Bale could be sold and took that risk. Not really fair then that he gets his pick from the new players that have come in.

Should have to spend the 5m on a replacement player from players available before the window shut, that's what we did last year. No way to game the system then.

Have to say I'm happy with the way transfer window worked out for me - Borini will get more game time at Sunderland than he would have at Liverpool, and Sessegnon had lost the plot with us, hopefully he'll fire up at West Brom.

This. If he gets the 5m back now he gets an advantage in the post-season auction process. And if he doesn't have to pick from the players that were available prior to the auction ending on August 16th then he has an advantage there.

IMO he made a choice to bid on Bale knowing full well that he'd be leaving. He should have to use the 5m on a player that was already available on August 16th.
