Is it not the truth that the window of transfers closes its doors this day? This would be meaning that and exchange between two clubs cannot be done. We should thank god Miligan made it before the date in which the window of transfers closes........

If its going to go ahead, Mark would already be on his way from Brazil to London, the flight takes 12 hours. I think he can make it in time quite easily

Heard that CP wanted to pay the money in 2 installments, apparently leading the MV knocking the deal back. Have no idea if there is any truth to this.

seems like Palace got sick of Victory's games Quote:MARK Milligan's hopes of joining Crystal Palace appear to have been dashed with the Premier League club believed to have informed Melbourne Victory that their deal was off the table. As late as Monday afternoon negotiations were continuing over a transfer fee and it’s understood coach Ange Postecoglou was resigned to losing the player, who had informed the club of his desire to pursue his boyhood dream of playing in the Premier League. It’s believed Palace’s offer was in excess of the A-League transfer record set by Rostyn Griffiths, who was sold from Central Coast to Chinese club Guangzhou R&F for $1.3m in 2012. A-League 2013-14 All the games Twin See how your team fared after the A-League draw for season nine was released. The Herald Sun understands that Palace and Victory had agreed to the fee, but negotiations broke down over whether the sum would be paid up front or in installments. It’s now almost certain that Palace won’t return with a renewed bid before Tuesday morning’s 8am (Melbourne time) deadline. The midfielder, who is in camp with the Socceroos ahead of Saturday’s friendly away to Brazil, is understood to have been gutted when informed of the latest developments. Milligan, 28, boarded a plane for Brazil on Saturday believing he would be a Crystal Palace player by the end of today’s (Tuesday) transfer deadline. Ins & Outs Transfer Centre A-League Transfer Centre Keep in touch with all the movement ahead of the 2013-2014 A-League season. + 23 Hub: A-League Transfer Centre + 23 The London-based club last Thursday launched a third bid in an attempt to add depth to their squad on their return to the top tier. Milligan, who signed a permanent deal with Victory from J2 side JEF United on the eve of the 2012-13 A-League season, rejected a lucrative move to UAE club Baniyas in June but he was determined to have a crack at the Premier League. "A sizeable offer has been made and the player hopes to fulfil a lifelong dream," Milligan’s agent Buddy Farah told the Herald Sun last Friday. Despite having featured in 13 of Australia’s last 27 matches in the last two years, both Palace and Milligan were confident that he’d be able to secure one as injuries played their part. Capped 24 times by the Socceroos, Milligan was tentative after Palace’s initial interest a month ago, but a recent conversation with manager Ian Holloway has convinced him that he would feature in their plans ahead of the 2014 World Cup. Holloway has watched DVD’s of Victory games from last season and saw the aggressive defender-turned-midfielder playing a role in Palace’s midfield, possibly alongside Socceroos teammate Mile Jedinak. It’s also believed that Socceroos coach Holger Osieck was in favour of Milligan testing himself in one of the best league’s in the world. With Milligan now destined to remain, it’s one less transfer headache for Postecoglou, who is still looking to fill the marquee position after Marcos Flores’ departure. Postecoglou is still searching for a central defender, with former Tottenham and Arsenal star William Gallas still a possibility, while Milligan’s midfield companion from last season Billy Celeski also has to be replaced, after he joined UAE club Al Shaab a month ago for a fee of $500,000. Victory's games? Palace should've just paid the 1.4 up front. They wanted to pay 700 now and 700 in 2014.

They (Victory) could've always done like Heart did with Babalj's move to Red Star and insert a clause, IF they were concerned about 'uncertainties' over receiving the second payment. That way IF they somehow didn't cough up the second instalment, they'd have him back anyway. And obviously Victory aren't desperate for money, but still - they didn't feel they were getting sufficient value, still? Doesn't surprise me that this happened - Palace would give up after a number of attempts. Window closing soon anyway. It's a big variable whether they'd still be interested even come January, let alone circa World Cup! Jedinak's partner in midfield may well be sorted from within the squad and if not, they may have other options on the horizon come January. Milligan was far from the only transfer target of Palace - they have been active in the market this season lead up. But anyway, the Palace ship may well have sailed! And there's NO GUARANTEES any other suitors WILL come along - add to that - NO GUARANTEES that Milligan will EVEN remain Bresc's partner in the Socceroos midfield/a permanent fixture there. Especially, ironically, with Jedinak on the comeback and even James Holland continuing to come along, including playing CL level football. Just as nobody could predict that Milligan would be the one to end up solving our woes there, short term, back end of qualifying - we can't foresee who will be in the final reckoning - especially with variables of injuries aswell as form, coaching changes and general changes in fortune! The A-League clubs are professional these days, and clubs overseas need to treat our clubs as such. Perhaps it’s the EPL that need to learn the lesson here, and treat our league with some respect?

Too many variables when one thinks of the World Cup. Jedi could get injured, Milligan could've moved and sat on the pine, Holloway could've gotten the boot and the new guy leaves Milligan out of the match day squad all together. Those types of things aside, I'd say MV were handling this on their own terms. Either fork out all the money now or we keep our contracted player. While a fee was agreed to, I think that the on field value that Mark holds for MV is why the club were tough in their stance of a lump sum payment. Anyway, I guess we'll see some people in this thread once more come January? It is just a "matter of time" after all. Just saw PB's meme. Edited by Ali07: 3/9/2013 10:01:17 AM

josh sydneyfc wrote:Probably confirming what many already know but a guy at work is good friends with milligan's mum and she told him he has agreed to terms and is beginning to organise moving the family etc over there. Says its really good money and really wants to have a crack at the prem. says he loves melbourne and melbourne victory but the offer is too good to refuse.
To be honest I want him to go there, will only better him as a player. -5000000 credit points for this thread.
