Turner was on the spot of the foul as well, he should have left it there and walked away.

Free kick to Sunderland in our own half. Turner taps it toward our keeper so he can take the kick and walks away. Torres races through and collects the ball whilst the entire Sunderland defence, including our keeper is waving to the ref saying we haven't taken the free-kick. Torres squares to Kuyt who puts it in the net.

To the letter of the law, a goal, because Turner did kick a stationary ball... But no player in the world would have done what he did, where he did it, with any intention of making the ball active.

Credit to Torres for quick thinking, and to Kuyt for thinking as fast as him - because they were certainly the only 2 players on the pitch who thought the ball was in play.

Sunderland got a free kick and the guy tried to kick it back to the 'keeper to take the free, but the ref interpreted his kick as the free kick being taken, and allowed Torres to run in and take the ball. Pass to Kuyt and goal.
